I'm reading about sleep disorders and it made me wonder, how many times per night does the average person wake? I think I'm waking once an hour or more.

lol, just another reason to marry you SAM.

It depends on how active the wives are. If the wives sleep well, everybody sleeps well. If the wives do not sleep well, nobody sleeps well.

Most people sleep through the night without waking up until the alaerm goes off in the morning, usually about 6 to 8 hours of rest. I get up a few times during the night due to back pain and other problems I have but before I had these problems I slept about 8 hours a night average. I do not eat anything before bed, at least 3 hours before. Drinking water is OK but no sugar!

For the past week I've been waking up around 4:00, and immediately falling asleep again. I would say I wake up during the night (enough to be conscious of it) maybe 2 or 3 times per week on average.

Pretty much every hour. That's not supposed to happen for normal sleep though.

Once a night every now & then - usually if I've been drinking a lot of water during the evening. I totter off to empty the old bladder, then shuffle back to Nod like a zombie. Or occasionally for a moment or 3 after an odd dream, as though reminding myself that it was actually a dream.

As I'm am getting older I find it more difficult to sleep through the entire night, without having get up and use the bathroom. When I was younger, I would only wake if I had a completely full..about to burst bladder. Now it takes alot less. I'm sure drinking beer before bed has nothing to do with it.

When I am asleep, it's damn near impossible to wake me up unless it's around the time i usually wake up. I have to set two alarms and at one time in my life I had three alarm clocks set.

The funny thing is, my quality of sleep is always poor.

I paid closer attention last night. I finally fell asleep around 12:30 - 1 a.m.

Woke up hourly just about to the minute and each time it was because I was in pain (a body part had fallen asleep, something was being twisted or pinched)

I woke up at least 10 times.

I'm going to attempt to sleep on my back tonight and see what happens but I don't think I'm getting out of this one without making a Dr. appt.

Actually, everybody wakes multiple times during the night. People sleep in cycles of about 30-40 minutes duration, made up of deep sleep followed by dream (REM) sleep, followed by a light sleep/wake period. Most people do not remember the wake periods, since they are immediately followed by another sleep cycle starting.

I'm 65 so I only need 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 hours' sleep. I never wake up during the night. But I often find it difficult to fall asleep, sometimes it takes an hour or more, so I just start reading and that usually makes me drowsy. On work days I seem to have an inner alarm clock and I often wake up a few minutes early, giving me some time for drowsy-doggy-hugs before we all have to get up. But once I'm asleep I stay that way until morning.

My wife has told me of some astoundingly noisy, chaotic things that happened that took her an hour to settle down, and I slept blissfully all the way through.

Acording to me I sleep like a log, however everyone else says that I kick like a mule which perhaps explains why the blankets and sheets end up on the flore in the morning. I feel prfectly rested, though I don't know how.

that I know of none. Unless I had some beers and have to go... other than that I'm out like a light switch. If I'm at the bar and have inhaled my share of smoke, the nicotine will screw up my sleep. But in general I go out.
