^That would be quite a challenge and the outcome of this experiment would be even more interesting. Transhumanism is taking shape here.

Edit: I hear that some researches make it already possible that machines react to the individual's brain waves. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Could be the golden way to the solution of this.

Y'all are just doing the ol' sci-fi dreamin' trick .....we can't even make artificial limbs and y'all are talkin' about making entire human-like bodies. Geez.

Bingo! Which is, actually, the entire issue of this thread. You just draw the line a little differently than I do, that's all.

So, it would be your idea to spend billions of dollars on this one "kid", without any evidence that it would be successful, ....while millions of inner-city school systems throughout the nation flounder in poverty and poor schooling?

    Artificial limbs do already exist.

"So, it would be your idea to spend billions of dollars on this one "kid", without any evidence that it would be successful, ....while millions of inner-city school systems throughout the nation flounder in poverty and poor schooling?"

That's not an argument. It wouldn't just be for that kid. It's an investment into the bettering of these people's future. For us.

We should just leave the deaf, dumb, blind kids at home with the pinball machines.

And they don't work worth a damn as a substitute for the original!! And it's mostly because we don't spend the money to do the research.

Yeah, sure ....so what you're saying is that you've bought into that ol' propaganda line that's used so successfully by the greedy politicians and manufacturerers! ...LOL!

No matter how you slice it, you're still spending millions on that one kid while all the rest go without. Ain't no way around that issue ...unless you use the ol' propaganda line that you used! ...LOL!

"I really should drink all this cold beer because it helps keep the brewery in business which helps the economy of the town which helps the economy of the nation! Hey, Joe, grab me another cold one!" ...LOL!

Surely we could give them jobs? Test subjects for cosmetics perhaps?

Naw, monkeys and mice are far more available, plus there are more of them.

Well we do really need human test subjects for a lot of other things. I suppose it would make more sense to use Mexicans though, they breed faster and people don't get so attached.

That's why I said that some tech geeks are already working on software and hardware that is reactive to an individual's brainwaves. They're slowly but surely improving, and the kid of your initial example is a good motivation. This kid would be good for testing such technologies so it's not just a matter of propaganda or pity. With the results of these experiments we then can improve the technologies' involved even further and make those artificial limbs more available, comfortable and handier for the disabled folks out there, plus at the same time decreasing the massive costs that are involved with buying such a feature.

Somewhere you have to start investing. How do you think Columbus got the chance to go to America, eh? Someone invested into his plans in spite of a rather low success rate. So..again, your point being?

Why not Chinese and Indians? There are a lot more of them than Mexicans.

    Only because we caused it.
However, in reality, humans are much more available than even lab-rats. Just look out your window.

No, I don't think so. You fuckin' doo-gooder liberals are always trying to force others to help people and things, why don't you liberals just volunteer for such things yourselves and leave everyone else alone?

Why must you liberals always be trying to force others to do what YOU think are good ideas? Ever wonder about that?

Isn't taking the opposite stance just doing the same thing?

Instead of "forcing" people to do what you thinks is a good idea, you want to force them not to? hmmm
