Who said anything about justification for rape? I never did. I said when a woman wears something so provocative or slutty she shouldn’t be surprised if there are negative comments or guys whistling or even asking her how much she charges per hour, but I never said anything about justification for rape they are two very different subjects.

Neither is leaving your car unlocked with the keys in the ignition an excuse for theft.

And just how modestly do we have to dress before we're not asking for rape?

Heavy loose clothing even in hot weather?

    Head to toe veil?

    A spacesuit?

Is provocative clothing really the issue with sexual harassment and rape?

Most girls who go to nightclubs or the pub wear extremely slutty clothes. Uber short dress, accordingly low neckline, etc. They don't seem to get all that much harassment. Maybe I just tend to be looking the other way every time they get their ass pinched or some pervert stroking the lines of their head and neck.

I tend to dress with a different style, either black leather pants and a top with a high neckline, or a more rough and ragged look (DCs, ripped combat pants, you get the idea). Every male in the area seems to come and bother me. I think it's more to do with looking different or noticeable than looking slutty. If you look noticeable, you're asserting yourself, and men with power related issues don't like that. That's my theory anyway.

VI i agree with you that no one deserves harrasment yet i have to wonder at you comment on night clubs. Why DO women chose to wear "slutty clothing" at nightclubs?

There are only 2 real theories to that which seem to explaine it:

    a) they want to be noticed, after all its all about finding a mate, even dancing if a game to find a mate (we are just animals after all) and there for they WANT male attention and its only a problem when its the "wrong male" paying atention to them (be that whistling, pinching there ass, asking them to dance or come home with them or whatever it is)

    b) they are trying to show up the other females in the group by getting the most male attention and again as attention is the name of the game ... *shrugs* (this one came from David Edding's and his wife Leigh Eddings book Polgara the sorcoress

    c) Boyfriends/husbands enjoy it. I wouldn't wear a miniskirt for myself. To make a S/O happy, I'll wear a lot of crazy crap.

One thing I've noticed having lived in both Italy and China is that Canadian women are really, really touchy and sensitive. In Italy men following women or pinching them on the ass in the subway was a daily occurrence. The women would mostly just turn around, scream something at the man, and then continue on with their daily life. The western women who got their ass pinched would freak out and be talking about it for days.

In any Chinese bar you're liking to see men more or less grabbing women on the dance floor. If the girl tries to walk away, the guy will grab her arm and pull her back on to the floor, or hold on to her from behind and pull her to his table. The usual reaction is for the girl to laugh, lightly hit the guy and eventually find her way back to her friends unflustered.

I don't think this behaviour from the Italian or Chinese men is acceptable, decent or polite. But Chinese and Italian women seem to be much better at handling it without freaking out.

Sorry, I know that was a bit off-topic.

I've worn things I'd never entertain wearing in front of the CAT for fear she'd mock me on behalf of a good man.

ok but psycologically WHY do they like cloths which are more "reveling" even in very cold climates compared to a snow suite?

I have a pretty good figure that looks good in form-fitting clothes. Right now I'm wearing a tank top that's revealing and my cleavage is amusing no one but me. It doesn't bother me to look at it. I enjoy looking at someone's nice body, and I like my own body in nice clothes.

I'm simply pointing out that your actions have consequences. When you dress provocatively, you'll get attention. Sometimes it will be the kind of attention you're lookin for, other times it won't.
