Skinwalker banning Scifes unacceptable

i already said i dont see any distinctions between religions in the religion forum. what more do you want me to say? i dont talk negatively about anyones beliefs but some people dont particularly care for religion so to them it is not really an issue. there are also plenty of negative things said about atheists here too.

numerous members who were non muslim have been banned for 'preaching' and longer than scifes one day ban. i dont set the policy here, if it were my forum i would dump the religion forum altogether.

anyone who comes here and preaches gets the same treatment, or worse. this is what i have seen, if you have not noticed that then i cant figure out why.

its pretty obvious how you feel. even when foley comes around but i dont hold grudges against someone like him.

John I didn't mention anything about people preaching. If you read my posts in this thread you will see that I said preaching is unexceptable here and best reserved for private one on one for those who are interested in learning about a new religion. What I did address was Diamonds issue on how he was made to feel by a mod who used his religion as a poking point when giving him a warning.

Again you fall wide of the point, try and galvanize the brain cells will ya. Just because you don't see any distinction in treatment doesn't mean it isn't happening. I never mentioned it until I saw it happening myself in more than one or two threads.

I know the 'technique' perfectly well. Essentially, it goes like this:
1- Don't dare suggest the moderator is wrong.
2. The moderator is allowed to be hypocritical.

Not very hard to understand. Perhaps you enjoy moderators like this, but I don't and would rather simply not contribute where they 'moderate'.

I think I'll treat you to an excerpt from the speech of a prominent science fiction writer, Robert Heinlein, who passed away about 20 years ago. I think that the excerpt is absolutely golden, as it deals with 2 issues at once; anti semitism, which you'd probably agree is a problem, but by analogy, islamophobia as well. Here goes:

Does christianity have an 'agenda'? First of all, religions aren't people, they're belief systems, which makes it difficult for them to have agendas. Secondly, religions like christianity and islam aren't some unified entitites; they're schismatic, meaning that they are actually sub divided into various sects. Apparently you're a christian, so I'm sure you know that there is no one person who is in charge of all christianity. Perhaps you are unaware of this, but the same is true in islam.

I haven't seen any problems with questioning islam. I've done it myself many times and there was a point where S.A.M. stated that she didn't want to talk to me anymore if I continued with it. Fortunately, we got over that, because I like S.A.M.

The problem is that Skinwalker is deleting posts and banning people simply because he disagrees with them. This isn't what a moderator is supposed to do I would think; from where I stand, a moderator is only supposed to ensure that there is civil discussion; he or she may contribute, as they do, but when they use their moderator power as a type of 'might as right' tool, we've got a problem.

 

i don't call "deleting and editing posts" maintaining a low profile.

the above post was directed specifically to muslims and islam but it applies to all religions. you have about as much use in our courtrooms as battery acid does in baby food. keep your garbage out of our courtrooms.
