Science is the effort to know "The Truth."

The faith in the existence of an unchanging truth is the same as a priest's faith in an unchanging God. Similarly, they both assert that the value of having such faith is self-evident. However, I would like to call it into question.

So, what is the justification for and the value in the pursuit of "The Truth"?

So you say that truth somehow changes over time ? What evidence do you have for that ?

Actually science doesn't bother much about "The Truth." Generally that sort of thing is left to theologians and philosophers.

Man, down in just 50 posts. Impressive.

To know oneself, to be true to oneself, to know ones limitations and to respect oneself.

We are all infinite spirits, that have lived for a very long time, and got stuck in human body because we were appealed by all these materialstic objects.

Interestingly Rupert Sheldrake, a scientist, has been trying to see if certain constants actually do change over time. Science, pe se, does not rule out truths being local or time bound, though I agree that this is often assumed by many scientists. You can use scientific methods to see if what is true is changing and this does happen.

I appreciate the comparison between truth and God. I think the rigidity around these things being unchanging is counterproductive.

Things changing doesn't mean truth changes. It is true that I am typing on my computer. That truth will never change.
Between that sentence & this 1, I did not type for over 1 minute. That truth will never change.
I live in an apartment. That fact will never change.
Long ago, I lived in a house. That fact will never change.
If X produces Y in our known universe, that is a fact which will never change. If X produces Z somewhere beyond our known universe, that is a fact which will never change.
