Well, it's a rather trivial difference IF it is true. I don't think you can say with certainty that it is though.

We're not just a jack of all trades, we're the master of all trades.

What? The fact that we are aware that we die, and commit suicide? I think that's a pretty big difference. If euthanasia was legal, I bet the death rate would go up a bit.

Humans can write. Humans can lie and cheat. Humans can build with sophisticated tools.

animals can lie. Cats lie all the time.

Yeah, I meant to stumble like that and I am not embarrassed I happened to think it was a fine time to suddenly lick myself after I tested my ankle.

That's where cats are honest and I did always have trouble with those two verbs.

Animals rarely spend the evening going over and over what they should have said at lunch instead of what they did say to that attractive member of the opposite sex.

The master of all trades (by the way, I said 'jack of all traits' on purpose) ? You're joking right ?
Humans can do a lot of things moderately well, but they don't really excel in anything. Our intelligence is our tool for being a jack of all traits.

What makes you think other animals don't know that life is finite ?
And I wouldn't herald suicide as the thing that makes us human if I were you. It's sooner an indication of weakness.

so? still a human quality. some animals beach themselves, but I doubt its because they are trying to commit suicide. Its a human thing

    How is that relevant ?

I'm trying to establish some ground rules, so that I can perhaps give you examples of animals that commit suicide.
