Last year I have successfully starved myself for 12 days without any food, just water and kefir. The results were good as I was able to loose the weight i needed to loose and also had many hallucinations as well as new sensations of emotions. This time I will use 100% pure cranberry juice mixed with water as the only thing to drink and eat for the next 20 days. The reason why I chose cranberry juice is because it is anti-viral and anti-bacterial juice which has helped me before quite number of times with fighting off infections. So this is an introduction and now to the actual diary.

    Day 1

Today on April 28, 2009 I have started an experiment on myself to last on nothing but water and cranberry juice. Today I drank water and cranberry juice...I diluted cranberry juice of 1/5 per cup, making it just enough to taste and not too much tart as the cranberry juice is.

I feel unchanged really, since this is the first day, no feelings of hunger, no symptoms really, or side-effects. =)

    On to tomorrow.

you know cranberries are so amazing, the juice they make looks like wine and has a bit of wine taste to it.

20 days of starvation to lose weight? Not a good idea really. The body's metabolism will slow down, it will conserve fat for energy and you'll lose muscle and energy. Better to eat small amounts of really clean food for that time and exercise. Is this just an experiment to see what it is like to starve for 20 days? I agree Cranberry juice is quite a useful tonic.

If you don't eat protein, you'll break down body protein, mainly muscle. The keffir probably kept you borderline last time, the cranberry will be of zero help.

yeah but kefir has 700 calories in each bottle. If I am to take protein it has to be at least half the calories of that.

Dietary fat is also needed for optimal production of hormones.

Carbs can be skipped up to a point... but not for longer than 2 weeks at a time.

My diet consists mostly of eggs, bacon, veggies, steak, chicken, nuts, peanut butter, whey, etc. I feel great. I take in Gatorade when I need the carbs because it's hard to climb a large rock on fats and protein only.

well the cranberry juice will be diluted. Plus I use the exercise machine everyday now where I burn 670 calories each day in one hour. I use on of those spinning leg and arm machines.

Any fat that you burn will quickly be put back on when you end this diet. All you're going to do is convince the body that there is a food crisis and it must enter survival mode. This means that your metabolic rate will decrease to conserve all the energy the body has PLUS your body will try to store as much fat as it can whenever you do take in some calories.

Absane is right, try it if you must but eventually you'll be too exhausted to workout.

One egg is about 50 calories and is pretty good as a source of protein. A cup of milk also helps. I suggest that you cut out starch and visible fats [butter, oil, margarine, fried foods] and lose weight that way.

You also need to exercise otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolic rate will drop which will make it easier for you to regain weight with fewer calories.

Why are you guys trying to convince dragon not to starve himself for 20 days? I want to see if his posting behavior changes at all.

Oh, I get it. You just like telling dragon when he is wrong. Lucky for you guys it is frequently, huh?

Ahh roman you just want to see if he turns into a delusional blithering idiot from lack of food. Hey he's free to experiment with himself others were just giving him some points to think about. Good luck Drag.

I also go on a two week or more fast twice a year on average and found it rewarding to lose some weight and cleanse my body of crap. As long as Dragon keeps himself hydrated he should do just fine. I've never hallucinated though during any of my fasts and I use to fast 30 days when I was younger.

What about exercise? He's doing it to lose weight. Wouldn't he lack the energy to workout after a few days?
