But you can have a newborn male circumcised? Hmmm double standards and a contradiction come to mind. (unless you left your sons 'intact'). See above
true. Circumcising my son was done for health reasons (and I know people are gonna disagree). But chopping off a dogs ears/tail and declawing a cat is never done for health reasons. Its illegal to have a person sterilized without consent. Its also illegal to buy a child in most countries. I don't see why people have such a hard time calling an animal a pet. Just to make themselves feel better I'd guess. If an animal is a companion, what is the owner called?
Really, what was his condition? Do you have the memory of a goldfish? Apparently you do because it has been discussed...ad nauseum, that docking tails and cropping ears have a functional purpose. Do I really need to rehash this? Do you consider your children your companions?
I have no qualm calling my dog a pet, he is, but he is also a companion. Just because your one thing does not mean you can not be both. Your husband is your husband, but he may or may not be your companion.
While I'm very against circumcision, a lot of doctors still agree it's medically advisable to do so and reduces the risk of some cancers.
Those doctors are full of shit, period. Unless you have some sort of complication at birth that REQUIRES circumcision, why do it? It's the way nature made it. No doctor on this planet can argue with tens of thousands of years of evolution and adaption. Surely if a cut penis was the best survival/evolutionary advantage then common sense would say that mother nature would not have given us a foreskin.
I have one as well and I'm just fine too! I should go thank my 'rents for not having part of my weenie cut off.
Yeah, considering the foreskin is a huge risk area for cancer. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
So what does all the advancements in hygiene, bathing and what not tell you? That circumcision is obsolete, save for medical issues. Anyway, getting a bit off topic. So Orly, are your children not your companions? If not, what would you call them? Dogs are companions, but like children, they are also dependents. And unlike most children, they will be dependents their whole lives.
Honestly, knowing how fucking lazy home health care workers are, I'd advise anyone with a handicapped son to have it done. I'm against it, but it has roots. That's hard to break. (Lotta Jewish friends...)
I'd say if a boy had something like muscular dystrophy or cerebral palsy. Then again, I'd abort if I was carrying a child with this condition.
It sounds like you are looking at this situation with plenty of common sense. And yea, the CP or MS would be valid medical issues that would warrant a circumcision.
