    Pretty much. If there were 5.9 billion less humans, the remainder could swaddle themselves in luxuries while causing little long term damage to the environment.

    if you have ever worked in the appliance repair industry, or almost ANY industry for that matter, you would quickly come to the conclusion that these devices was designed to fail from the get go.

    the reliability of japanese automobiles illustrate this point quite well.
    the US allowed the imports but refused to let japan open auto parts outlets.
    this is where the real money is made in connection with automobiles, parts replacement. when you buy a starter or a battery you aren't getting "new" parts but parts that are "rebuilt". a "new" battery is guarenteed by the manufacturer for 12 years.
    japan had no choice but to make their automobiles highly reliable, which they did.

    the following is from my own personal experience:
    modern refrigerators are known as "frost free".
    in these types there is a rely that cycles an heating element to aid in this process. during this heating process condensate is formed and channeled into a collection area. in this particular refrigerator the condensate dripped directly onto the relay which caused it to corrode.
    it was designed that way.

    one can only guess as to why this is.

    I must admit, the thought does not appeal at all.

    In fact.. ewww.. It's not cleaning. It's shifting the dirt and grime elsewhere on the body. Again.. ewww..

    As for this topic.

    You can get very soft toilet paper that is unbleached. It's not as soft or as good as the other brands, but if you are that environmentally conscious (I would have said anal, but yeah.. that would have been too much), there are alternatives.

    Obesity is also an ongoing problem. Think of it as a way of adding exercise to your routine. Lift can, go to water source, fill can, do the potty, lift can, wash bum, return can, wash hands. You can do a few stretches here and there to make it more labour intensive

    Yes. But then you are wasting another valuable resource, that being water. Then of course you need to warm the water, unless you enjoy dousing your nether regions with cold water (not pleasant in the winter by any means), so that is another dip in resources that can damage the environment. And then of course you need to use soap, which, unless is a completely bio-degradable soap, can also damage the environment.. then you need to consider that when you buy soap, you are going to the supermarket or store.. packaging and bags.. fuel for the car or public transport method you use.. store uses up electricity for lights, heating and cooling and the cash register or eftpos machine for you to purchase said soap. Then of course you add to the landfill with the packaging the soap comes in.

    Or just buy whatever toilet paper you happen to like wiping your backside with and we can all be happy.

    Simple, yes?

    recycled toilet paper. Is it made from recycled paper or from recycled toilet paper?
    If its made from used toilet paper, do they just add a lot of water, germ killer and turn it into pulp and dry it flat?

    How can it be made from recycled toilet paper? That stuff goes to the sewage treatment plant.

    I don't know. :shrug: LOL. Run it through a fine mesh sieve.
    The term 'recycled toilet paper' just kinda creeps me out.

    I went to a sewage treatment plant on a school field trip once, it was interesting. I saw the pile of "solids" separated out of the water, and it was nothing you would want to recycle.

    Yeah, but water can be filtered. Paper for recycling is generally very clean, much of it comes from printing plants and is brand new.
