Replace "Republican" with "Conservative" and you might have a point.

I've been slamming Bush for being a big-government big-spending Liberal for the past 6 years. I hate the way the war on terror is being waged. I want to get rid of guns. I want all religion out of our politics. I want open borders. In most of these ways, I am Left of Obama.

Even with my Conservative economic views, I can find only one person in the Republican party to agree with me, and that is Ron Paul, my candidate for 2008. Even there, I have to make a ton of social policy sacrifices.

You are just so far gone to the left that everyone looks like a neo-Nazi to you. The fact that you disagree with everything one party does, and agree with everything from the other party, proves that you are an unthinking fanatic. Cold calculus, no offense meant. Hell, you seem to be proud of this reactionary state you find yourself in.

Funny, conservatives label me liberal or Democrat and I am none of the above. I am independent and I view mystelf as moderate. I vote for who or what is best for the nation based upon rational analysis of the data.

The problem with conservative economic ideology is that it ignores fact and over simplfies reality in order to conform to its preexisting idealogy. Most of these conservatives have little if any business or financial education...including Ron Paul.

I appreciate the honesty of Ron Paul. But his policy is not supported by fact and history. It just so happens that the Democrats are more on the right side of the facts at the moment than are the Republicans. There was a time when that was not the case. But today, that is the case.

You are not a moderate. All of your views come from one side. Everyone WISHES they were a moderate because they don't want to admit to being an unthinking slave to their ideology.

I know for a fact that I am a centrist because everyone disagrees with me.

You like gloating about your self don't you? You and SAM should talk to each other about it and seek help.

Yeah fine, call me what you will...don't really care. I care about doing what is right for the citizens of this nation...all the citizens.

Gloating over the fact that nobody ever agrees with me?

So you can't even agree with me on the fact that no one ever agrees with me? That is just mean.

No you don't. You want your side to win and the other side to lose. Completely natural emotion and I do not judge you for it. You just judge me for pointing it out.

Politics is just in-grouping and out-grouping. Pure tribalism. You want your tribe to see victory. What is weird is that we hide our real tribalism with a larger wrapping of more tribalism. That is, we pretend to not be Democrats or Republicans by claiming to be Americans, which is just as bad. You belie as much when you say you care about doing what is right for the citizens of THIS nation. Why not all nations? Why not outsource jobs so the underdeveloped countries can develop a middle-class? Why not completely open borders, so any human can live wherever they can afford to live and obey the local rules?

Masking one's real in-grouping by claiming a larger in-group isn't just wickedly hypocritical, I think it reveals something dastardly in the shame that most people feel for their unthinking loyalty to a group. With such shame, why can't more people step away from it? Why are they so horrified at ever changing their minds and rejecting the group-think that comes from tribalism?

All hypothetical questions, to be sure. Musing aloud here.

I would like to take these moment to admit that swivel is my sock puppet. He and I think the same and when we argue with each other we do so only to amuse our self and to fuck with the minds of others. Now if you don't mind I/we are going to listen to John Lennons "imagine" while reading Nicholas Wade's "Before the Dawn" to get a better understanding of the genetics for nationalism, tribalism, the human psych in general, and why the human race is undergoing self-domestication yet seemingly getting eviler at the same time.
