That's because Oregon is progressive and very libertarian. And if I could find a job there, I would move there in a heartbeat. My sister lives there, and when I was there last fall, I fell in love with the place as did the rest of my family.

Here, I had to find a house in an area that had a hospital that didn't have the words "Saint", "Covenant" or "Methodist" in them just so I could be sure if something happened to me, my own advanced directives could be carried out by my loving family and I wouldn't be kept alive by artificial means longer than I had to, or make them suffer in any way should something like that happen to me.

Oregon is also in a population decline, and I think it's because in general, porgressive thinkers understand the need to not over-populate the world. And that there is more to life than dogma and pro-creationism. Oregon also has been the closest state to come to near equality for same-sex marriages and I have high hopes that at some point in the very near future they will pave the way for more states to understand the importance of allowing all people to have the same liberties. Progression is good, and I think that Oregon is closer to being the future of humanity than any other US state. However, they are behind a lot of European countries, and Canada in regards to progressive legislation to free the liberties of it's citizens.

my crazy brain thinks of few weird things.

    1. stop crying over wars and genocides and innocent people dying. Its essential for nature to do what it must do to attain balance. Nature dont care if someone is innocent or not. Fittest will survive and rest will die. Simple as that.

    2. Stop unwanted research in medical field trying to prolong death. Only a moron would love to live beyond his 70's and if anyone is greedy enough to think that he want to live forever, get him shot asap. Death is essential for evolution and trying to slow it down sure has its own consequences in the big picture.

    3. Avoid mindless consumption. There is only a little we all need to live peacefully.

    4. Find ways to run everything on solar energy and legally ban mining petroleum and limit the mining of other resources.

    5. Add severe control over companies who produce food items. Their business should not be profit driven. To make more money, they need to kill more chickens and fishes and sell more and make more people unhealthy. Thats just plain stupid.

    6. Ban all anti-abortion activists who don't have more than 5 children.

    7. Make it compulsory for religious institutions to pay taxes like others and priests and nuns to get married. and Ban kids from practicing religion till they are 18 yrs old. If they cant drink, they are not mature enough to handle religious stories.'

    8. Control the flow of gadgets. We got too many choices to make the business people richer. And no consumer gadget should be allowed to be obsolete before 10 years.

Adopting can be a mess. You are getting a jumble of genetic predispositions that you may regret having to deal with. Almost all kids up for adoption are a combination of their irresponsible father who wouldn't stick around, and a mother unwilling to do everything she could to raise the kid herself. I have a handful of friends who have adopted, and every single one of them is going through a nightmare right now. Military school and suicides and the like.

It might change your mind to read "The Blank Slate" by Steven Pinker or "The Nurture Assumption" by Judith Rich Harris.

You're right. The problem is, we need more people. The Western world is grossly underpopulated. We should increase the tax breaks for kids by at least one order of magnitude.
So what? So long as there are humans there will be cats, dogs, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, horses, cows, etc. You want to see "wild" animals? That's what zoos are for.

Furthermore, life on earth has survived despite repeated meteor strikes, ice ages, earth quakes, massive changes in the atmosphere induced by photosynthesis, etc. Life can and will adopt to anything we do as well.
Were I dictator, I'd send all "human haters" to GITMO before one of you puts your money where your mouth is and does something to make your dreams come true.
Bullshit. You've repeatedlly refered to mankind as a cancer and expressed the hope that we someday become extinct.

    Why ?

Would that go for humanity as well ?
So we can just stop worrying about genocide, murderers and the like ?

Why so hostile ? And could you please stop calling me a human-hater ?

    And, so ? That doesn't make me a human-hater.

To maintain a growing economy and to be able to provide for the needs of the elderly.
I would think that, as humans, we'd take a special interest in human events. Wouldn't you?
When someone wishes for the extinction of the human species they are wishing for the deaths of me, my children, and every person I care about. Perhaps I'm being oversensitive to take offense at that. I understand that many people may say such things to be "provacative", but I think such ideas should be exposed for the bloodthirsty provacations they are especially in this modern era when technology has begun to make it possible that a "human hater" could actually take action via bio-tech, nuclear weapons, etc. to make his dreams come true. Ideas have consequences. Ideas matter. Even if you have no intention of creating some super-ebola to try to wipe out the human race, some nutjob out there just might latch on to what you say and try to make it real.
How would you define a human hater?
Have you not repeatedly wished for the extinction of the human species? Have you not said you'd hate to see mankind spread to the stars? Again, how would you describe a person who holds such views and what, exactly, would seperate you from a "human hater"?

I've found parenting to be, mostly, pretty easy. My children are obedient, fairly polite, and don't cause much trouble. I could brag and say that's because of my awesome parenting (and, perhaps, some of it is), but I think much of it is simply that my children are like me and my wife. Neither of us were trouble makers, both of us are of above average intellegence, both of us are fairly laid back. As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

When you adopt, who knows what you're getting. I'm not trying to discourage people from adopting, it's a great thing to do. But you're definitely rolling the dice much more than when having your own children.

Up to a point.. beyond it the population just becomes too large to maintain. Where will we get the jobs needed from ?

Making sure the environment doesn't go to crap is caring for yourself as well, wouldn't you agree ?

Fair enough. I have never said any like that while being serious. In fact, I don't think I ever said anything about wanting to kill off humanity that could possibly be taken serious.
I don't think I ever said I wanted the human race to go extinct though, and even if I did, that wouldn't remotely be the same as wishing your family dead.
If you are honestly hurt by what I have said about the subject, I apologize. But please point out which post(s).

As someone that hates humans in general.

I don't think so, not seriously anyway.

Yes, I did. And I stand by it.

The fact that I don't hate anyone. I dislike (not hate) humanity as a whole, not individual people.

    Talk about good research.

But to be honest, what is the solution? And what is the penalty on those whom break it?

    Well here' the thing.

If the government decides to "control" the population like they do in China (or any crazy scheme), they can just kill me too, but I might take some people with me. Hey, THAT will help population control too!

I'm not living under absolute authority because some people are irresponsible. There are many people in the west just like me. So, good luck with that.

If you just suggest to do this to the east, well that's not fair either. Again good luck with that, particularly in a fairly liberal democracy like India. Better luck getting British authority in there again.

Without immigration most "western", and a lot of other populations would actually become significantly smaller later in this century. Why not see this as some part of the soultion of contemporary problems? Of course then this may be seen as a problem in itself, but I suspect problems are a part of human existence. It is about balancing - and in this era balancing means balancing 20.centuries extraordinary growth (quadrupling in about 100 years- probably a unique event in human history). And what about declining economic activity? Some parts of the world(the biggest producers/consumers) should accept it.

Oh, a rebel!!! You have to realize that you live in a society and sometimes society has to make decissions where one group of people get hurt to help the other group.

Do you think most of the Chinese liked the 1 child policy???

But aren't most of the people starving because of politics, not because there isn't enough food.
    Look at Zimbabwe.

That might be a good point, but nevertheless, people will starve no matter what. Let's suppose the food distribution is optimal, what would that mean for 3rd world countires? Even more kids! So eventually we would reach a point where no matter how good the food distribution, there is just not enough food the spread around...

The Chinese were used to a lack of human rights before Totalitarian macro communism took over. They have not really tasted the sweet fruit of liberty as we have.

It will take a long time to chip away our liberties to that level. I honestly don't think even the United States could afford all the police to take it to that level.
