Snow is good, I am looking for sleds online, and I just can't find a real "my childhood" kind of sled. Locally in the stores they don't even have a real sled, just tubes and plastic "bottoms".

Online I only found 1 on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Eurosled-Rode...=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1233327465&sr=1-47

I know it is fast, dangerous, but that is the whole point. It is called Eurosled for a reason. I assume American compamies are just too affraid of the liabilities and that's why they make everything plastic and tube.

But that takes away the fun!! Of course they are selling ski helmets now, bicycle helmets are almost obligatory, we need so much protection!!!!

Google 'toboggan', you'll find lots of nice wooden toys for sale.

pfft. We just took Mom's canning wax and rubbed it all over the bottom of a cardboard box.
Then we got the fancy ones. Those ones could fly but it really hurt when your sibling swung it at you.

yeap, I want those. So far I could only find it online and still it is rare.

Now I acknowledge, those are the most dangerous and you can cause serious damage, specially when smaller kids are around, but hey.....

Come on, that is a piece of plastic, and it hurts your butt when you reach hard, icy areas. I am talking about real sheds not rubber/plastic crap....

    Wood and iron baby!!!

Wood and iron are only good in hard packed snow. Plastic can go over anything.

My Mom wouldn't get us the wooden ones. She saw a girl riding one hit a tree. The wood from the sled went into her body.
And my Dad was also cheap, so we got boxes and a sheet of $2.00 plastic.

Meh! safe in comparison to the one my father built out of wrought steel. It weighed far heavier, would move far quicker and when it rolled... it really wouldn't be a good idea riding it.

I agree, you see them less and less these days. But they are still readily available over here though. I suppose it's a matter of time before the disappear here as well..

I still have this kind from when I was a kid. My parents never got rid of it. I also had the one cosmic posted that you could steer.

Bah -- who needs sleds when you can just toss yourself down the hill with reckless abandon on one of these.

I repeat, you can't hit a kid REAL hard unless it is a nice heavy wood and metal sled...
