Recently YouTube has indeed removed 30,000 videos from their servers. I went there myself and found things had changed quite alot. There were now more warnings, advertisments, and actually it had less interesting content not more. They seem to be banning anything with music or video that has a copyright held. Of course this is rather ridiculious because it will never stop now, YouTube will fail and then shortly after copyright law will be expanded to include forums, where-by posing a section of text from another webpage without permission will be COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT. Now isn't that funny.

I just wanted to say merry New Year and let's remember don't sing Happy Birthday on yours or else the copyright holder will sue you. Also maybe we should stop speaking since it's a risk because phrases are copyrighted?!

My plan.... go through YouTube and flag every video with copyrighted material, that way it will fail faster, lmao

Why do you think the guys who started it took the money & ran ?!

Once they get rid of all the good stuff, you'll still have the inestimable thrill of tuning in to all the friggin' fucktards who feel compelled to put up vids of themselves taking a shit or whatnot.

    Wheeee...!!!!

Too bad. People will just find another way to look at/download vids and music without paying for it.

    Hackers FTW!
Copywright laws and anal musicians FTL!

I think this topic is important, I mean how many of you think the reason this is happening is because the actual worth of these things, movies, music, etc. was to high to begin with. Now that telecommunications has developed further along it was only natural this sort of thing would occur.

and that is most likely why it was stopped but then i could see the handwriting on the wall. someone should copy all books published and post them so then no one will write anymore books. that would be great.

This post is hilarious, absolutely made me smile. It talks about youtube and how it shouldn't really exist according to their own terms and conditions page, lol

They don't seem to understand that the only reason Youtube became that successful is because of copyright infringing content. Music videos, mashups from television shows, self made videos to accompany popular music, funny clips from TV shows or movies etc etc. Take those things away and you're left with a bunch of idiots crying into their webcam about whatever bothers them today, and laughing babies.

Youtube does actively screen content that's uploaded now though. They put in a video recognition feature that automatically rejects videos that look like they belong to a third party. For instance, try to upload a clip from some popular TV show or movie (I tried Idiocracy) and it'll be rejected before it ever goes live. Now try the same clip, but change the aspect ratio before you upload it and it'll get through.

Content companies are still in shotgun mode. They were caught completely off guard by the internet and lost their control over the distribution process. Now they're shotgunning their legal 'rights' into all directions in a futile attempt to gain back that control, and lobbying the shit out of congress for new laws in the process. They don't seem to realize that a 30 second clip of a funny part from one of their movies being on Youtube isn't going to hurt their bottom line at all. They don't realize that people will show other people those 30 second clips, and they certainly don't realize that Youtube could have been a huge free advertising tool for them. Instead, all they're doing is generating a lot of ill will towards them from the online community.

So how do you think this'll end? IMO the internet providers will succeed in their attempts to control online content by filtering, the new internet will be more like pay per view and people will probably stop using it as much. I forsee a time when there is NO copyrighted material online,...... and....if somehow it does show up there will be internet police watching to protect rights of corporations. Then if you get caught uploading a song or downloading anything you aren't licensed to by the ISP (ISP's will license what you can and cannot see online soon) you'll be thrown in jail for violating your contract. But even more-so copyright is getting to the point now where someone can actually draw a picture of an apple and get sued by someone that also has a picture of an apple, just look at what The Beatles (greedy bastards) did to Apple Computer, took them through courts for no reason because they believed they owned the entire word Apple. Sickening I know but this is where it's heading.

Anyway, yep.... sooner or later it will be illegal to watch television without a license from the station you are viewing!

PS Also please watch these youtube clips they are hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yRfjoYrkXc + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zvGRNu08B4 + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnLB8wysMbY
