    can they take forever.

Realtime is the only way to go. Starcraft 2 is coming...or is it out yet?

I don't like waiting for my turn. It breaks the flow of the game. I prefer to be completely immersed in the game while I'm playing it.

dude starcraft 2 has yet to have a firm release given yet and that will have to be pushed back 3 or 4 times before it comes out.

It'll be remembered for popularizing online FPS on consoles, but that's about it. There's not much else about it that hasn't been done better with other games, before or after it.

The interesting thing about Halo is not that it does any one thing better than anybody else but that it manages to put everything together into a package of sheer awesomeness.

Xbox 360 is STILL a moneyloser for Microsoft.

They don't make money on the consol, but the games..

My ass. Unreal Tournament was it, with its engine and Halo copied it. It beat Halo by 2 years..

As usual, you know shit. Halo is just overhyped one of the many, the most unique thing about it having a storyline.

I assume you mean Unreal tournament, which is built off of the Unreal Engine as opposed to Halo which was built off the Halo engine/ Havok Physics engine.
    Halo popularised FPSs on Console.

Thats MSs Business model, sell the consoles cheap so more people buy it then rake in the cash on the games.

Yes, I corrected it. UT was one of the first with competititve multiplayer action:

"...but the design of UT shifted the series' focus to competitive multiplayer action, a trend at the time: id Software's Quake III Arena was released only ten days later."

It had also easy to edit mods, a unique feature at that time...

AU contaire. GalCiv I and II.. I've played. I find them to be unimaginative and boring.. They turned me off turn based strategy.

I will always remember halo for having the best soundtrack of all the games I've played.

Why is the game so god damn quite when you play?
There is absolutely no atmosphere at all.

    I don't play COD 4.

golden eye is dope. But none of them will be remembered like Final Fantasy VII. Rawest game on earth, still. Sephiroth was the fuckin man!

Halo was only popular amongst the console kiddies, who had never before experienced a half-decent FPS. To PC gamers who had played FPS such as System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life and Doom, Halo was mediocre.

Having played all of those, except System Shock, I still consider Halo to be superior, although I did like UT.

COD will not be remembered other than being a somewhat good FPS.

Seriously. What was different from COD 4 than all the other COD series ?..

    Go here.
    Assassinate this
    Protect this
    Move to this position
    Artillery this.

All through a set path, with set pop up enemies, and set areas. Atmosphere was really great in COD 2, and maybe some bits of COD 4.. But overall ? where the is the story? and the soundtrack is just one generic blur.
Halo, you have multiple objectives, and multiple paths. Not as much as later games, granted, but still good.
