Considering all factors like accuracy, power, build quality, weight and looks...what do you think is the best handgun ever made from any time period? I like the Astra 600, made in Spain and used by the Nazis in WWII. Its got kind of an art deco look to it and is very heavy...giving the gun very little recoil, as you can see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBSyTUbi3NI Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I dont know much about guns but wouldnt you think by now there would be something better than a gun from ww2?
You'd think so...but the same doesnt apply to furniture either. All the great masterpieces are at least a hundred years old. I wouldnt own a plastic Glock if they were giving em away free!
Ah, now you're talking. You can't go far wrong starting with a 1911 frame. The customisations are mind boggling, my fave being the laser aiming guide that fits inside the recoil spring assembly under the barrel. Of course, then there are the different materials, (stainless, titanium) the coatings, the grips, the ventilated triggers, laser etching of the slide, yadda yadda, they're like hotrods, no two need be the same. Being a romantic sort though, I kinda prefer revolvers. This is also because last time I shot pistol, I totally pwned the local PD using a 4" Ruger .38 vs their 6" S&W .44's. Big boys toy and all that, but it's no use if it's too heavy, and they couldn't shoot them for shit.
You can't beat the .357 magnum. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Ask yourself, you feelin' lucky, punk? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
You give me the definition of "best" and I will tell you which one it is... Since guns are technical products unlike furnitures, your analogy doesn't stand. Also, there is most likely no such a thing as best. Most sold, most accurate yes, but not best...
Best handgun? The one with most casualties. Thats how you usually estimate merit. Getting the job done.
That Israeli .50 Desert Eagle springs to mind. You know, the one that can shoot through the engine block of a truck. Or make someone's head explode.
The best handgun?...easy...the one that's NOT pointed at you. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I smell an Urban Myth! While the Desert Eagle .50cal packs about twice, to three times the muzzle energy of a .357 magnum, (depending on the ammunition), I doubt it would penetrate an engine block. A .357 round certainly won't, and twice the muzzle energy, spread over the larger area of the round won't either I'll be bound. I reckon a 9x21 steel cored Gyurza (Vector SR-1) round wouldn't get all the way through either, and they were designed as armour piercing.
^ Fair enough, I don't know shit about guns. All the same it'll still make someone's brain fall out of their head.
I would think that the best handgun is the one that you own. You are use to using it and the way it handles. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Ahah yeah, although I think that's what whoever procured the Police Force's .44's thought, but they have to hit the target first!
You're thinking of the .50 caliber rifle round, not the Desert Eagle/pistol round. The .50 cal rifle round WILL go through an engine block, then through the rest of the car and at least another several hundred yards before it fell to the ground. A .50 rifle round is bigger than most big cigars. The bullet itself is probably about as big as the whole .50 pistol round. Two candidates for the best handgun ever: Berretta 92FS (at least one of the most popular 9mm handguns ever) Colt .45
A couple of weekends ago, there was a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway. A women in her RV in the infield area of the track was struck in arm by a .50 caliber rifle bullet, breaking her arm. It was later found out the shot came from a guy target shooting 5 MILES AWAY! That's some serious range. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
