Overpopulation a assumed because there are so many people with nothing to eat. We can put every person in the world in Ausrtrailia, give EACH of them 1/2 of an acre of land, and there would still be 1/6 of Austrailia left...and the rest of the world, that is.

We need to realize the system is what creates this assumed overpopulation because it works on scarcity. A controlled flow of resources is what the system promotes and reward. If the oil companies drilled as much oil as they can possibly do in one day, we would be playing 10 cents a gallon. If farmers grew as much crops as they possibly could, the world could be fed many times over. The problem is not the amount of people...yet(we have a long way to go though). The problem is the system. Money is to be made, and money can only be made by taking money or wealth from someone else.

Land area is not the issue. A person can't possibly grow enough food on one acre of land to feed himself for a year. Growing crops just don't work that way. What's he eat while the crops are growing?

But why should the farmers work to do all that? Who's to pay them? And should a few farmers be forced to produce all the food for all of the people in the world? Why? How?

The remainder of your post is simply the old stand-by pipe dream and "IF" scenarios that make no sense in any real-life situations. You might as well say that "IF man didn't have to eat, then there'd be no food problems in the world." Same bullshit ...IF... always works becaause IF makes it's own defense.

Exactly. With that mindset, there is bound to be people in the streets, as there is. The system breds sheeps like you to think of self interest instead of common goals. Obviously you are fine with how everything is now, because you were happened to be borned in America. Remember that.

Okay. So now that you've gotten that out of the way .....tell me HOW you're going to make your dreamworld come true? How are you going to get people to do what you want them to do? How are you going to get the pig farmers to work like hell just to GIVE the pork to someone who does nothing?

If you really want to learn, read this article:

    http://www.thevenusproject.com/intro_main/essay.htm

If you decide to skip it, it's your loss. And you can go back to working 9-5 for the rest of your life without ever knowing or questioning if humans can live differently. You know the sayings "life is what you make of it," "life is but a dream" because it IS a dream. If the people wanted to, they can change anything they want to suit their needs. It's only a choice. But it has to everyone's choice.

Yep, and notice the last sentence in your speil? Now tell me, truly and honsestly, how are you going to get everyone to agree on any-fuckin'-thing?

See? Don't you see why they call it a "pipe dream" ....it's because you look donw the pipe, without seeing anything on the outside. That's all you're doing ....ignoring all of the obstacles by simply ignoring them.

    Dream on, Scy, dream on.

How did I know you were gonna skip it? I could tell by your first reply. So typical of most people...and sad at the same time.

See? You can't even convince me, only one person, of your ideas, how are you going to convince everyone else in the world?

I can't convince you. You have to convince yourself. That's the whole point. Nothing will change until people see things for themselves. All I can do is provide information.

Let me tell you something, if you were born somewhere in Afica, you would definitely be open to this idea because the current system doesn't work for you. But you're not. So you think everything is fine and dandy and that capitalism is great, when you have no idea how and why we get everything so cheaply and efficiently. And this isn't just you, most people (in America) are blinded by this.

Oh, golly, you're not only wrong there, you'r really, really WRONG!

Things are fine and dandy in the world, things are so fucked up in the world that it's beyond belief of even the most pessimistic individual on Earth. I suspect that even God is amazed that humans have fucked up so much, for so long, over so much of the planet, in such a short time!

Not only that but the best land in Austrailia is now in the 100+ year drought. Farms with barns equiped for parallel milking of dozens of cows stand idle as the cow are gone - not even grass to eat or water to drink.

Go there and try to live on 1/2 acre before recomending it to others or at least bother to know a very tiny bit about what you are telling as fact, ScyentsIzLief.

Well it seems to me you can do a lot of things in Austrailia so stop looking like a moron and get your facts straight.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Australia#Land_use

We don't need a single piece of land to be able to do EVERYTHING. Are you on medication? That's simple logic. Plus there is obviously many other places where the land is usable to grow all kinds of crops. Australia was an example to SHOW how UNDERpopulated we are.

I'm saying that the ONLY reason there seems to be an assumed overpopulation is because none of these resources are being used to their potential. Why? Because if things were in abundance, they wouldn't make any money. So food and products aren't being created enough ON PURPOSE. So NO OVERPOPULATION, just the system doing it's thing. If profit has to come at a few lives, so be it. That's capitalism for you. And what is the common denominator for all these things? Money.

    Heh..

Most of the country is suffering a severe drought at the moment. Farmers are suffering terribly, especially those with crops. The Murray River, usually one of the main water sources for growers in the region, has been decimated.

On top of that, a large portion of the country is inhabitable.. desert areas with only a few thousand farmers who grow cattle (and who are struggling to do so) and Aboriginals who are adapted to the hostile desert environment and who are able to live with the land as it is. And on top of that again, even the inhabitable areas would not be able to sustain everyone with their 1/2 acre block of land.. lack of water would make it a tad difficult.. Plus doing so would put severe stress and strain on a fragile ecology and the rare and endangered wildlife. As it stands at present, our water supplies are barely able to support its present population and your idea is to bring in a lot more people to solve the over-population in other countries?

    Again..

    HEH!

But, Bells, idle dreamers of fairy tale lands don't need to worry about minor bullshit like droughts and stuff, they can just dream right on around those minor, pesky little problems. The "IF" statements take care of anything and everything, didn't you know that?

Oh, c'mon, Bells, we all know that the Aussies are such nice, compassionate, generous people. There's no reason that y'all can't take in a few billion poor, starving people of Bangladesh and India and give them great homes in the lush greenery of the outback.

Yes, they were premature. It is also easy to misjudge how long it would take. HOWEVER, the only thing that has made them wrong is that our science has led to new technology able to mitigate much of the problem.

Yet, it is certain that pollution is growing most everywhere, that we are in a accelerating decline in animal species, that we are having to use more and more resources to use as substitutes for other resources, etc.

The upper classes are getting rich and middle classes are beginning to appear in a few economic growth centers, but the great masses of people are still living in or close to hunger. There are serious social problems. Nations and religion-based societies are taking more to confronting each other over their dwindling resources.

We depend upon science and technology to save us, but where is "fusion power?" Where is the other technology we are increasingly in need of but is not available? We have genetic-engineered food now, but is it really safe?

It has been said that if we balanced our land, water and other resources efficiently and equitably, the Earth could feed many times the number of people here now. Is this an excuse for being unconcerned? Any fool should know that there is no way that is going to happen!

That is, unless the world comes up with a single world-view and way-of-thinking capable of replacing the old religions that divide us---as proposed in http://atheistic-science.com---and brings about an organized world under one, tough, efficient government able to make equitable decisions and enforce them!
