Yeah, there's been discussion of him being the worst president in U.S. history.
That's a huge label considering some of the company he's in.

Nixon was a crook, but he did have a few successes.

    Wow!

    Holy shit!

    All those nukes?

    All that power?!

    worst president .... EVER?

And most of us are still alive to talk about it?

I hope Bush is as bad as it gets.

Truly a great nation, we are.

    Exactly.

    Bad. Ineffective. Sure.

But, IMHO, he hasn't even touched Grant or Hoover yet.

But unlike his father, George W Bush will be remembered. Whenever I hear people talk about the past few presidents its always what Reagan did and then it's about what Clinton did. No one talks about Bush Sr. George W Bush will forever be marked in history books everywhere. He has impacted society in a way that many presidents did not, although he will be infamous for it.

A second look at Grant and Hoover is in order.

Grant demonstrated virtues and had accomplishments in office (such as improving the US balance of trade, establishing the first National Parks, etc), Hoover avoided widespread corruption and got himself removed after one term, both while facing far more serious problems than W has faced, not of their own making.

Neither one started large unnecessary wars, for example. W has been not only passively bad - inadequate to the the demands of the times, allowing corruption - but actively bad, creating new enormous problems both bureaucratic and practical. For that attribute he gets extra debit.

Bush says he doesnt believe in short term history, and is confident of vindication by historians of the future...a hundred years hence.

Well in a hundred years he won't have to worry about it. But I don't think anyone at anytime is going to find him anything but the worst POTUS in history.

Why is it we cannot remember all of the great Presidents America has had?

This is not even a question, of course George Bush Junior is the worst president in our history. Anybody who says otherwise has been living under a rock for the last eight years.

    LMFAO

It's an executive job. It doesn't lend itself to greatness, the way it opens the door to disaster.

You can have great Presidents in times of disaster, you can have great hotel managers in times of disaster (like that guy in Rwanda), but day in day out you've either got a job well done or a botch of some kind. The botch, now, can be bad.

Primarily this is media driven, but I will say that Bush's "failed presidency" will pail in comparison to the next presidency.

Which is really sad considering the man authorized one of the shortest most successful wars in history, and they did not even re-elect him for it.

In 100 years people might just find the new cybernetic overlords that begin systematic extermination of the human race just slightly worse than bush.

I dunno, was it Jackson that ignored congress and ordered the troops to send the Cherokee on the trail of tears? Which one did the genocide of the seminoles, or was that the creek? Which one did the biological weapons in the form of blankets from cholera victims being given to the native americans as "aid"? Bush was pretty insignificant, compared to the glory days of manifest destiny.

Most Historians were saying Bush will go down as the worse YEARS ago!

    - didn't capture Bin laden
    - started a war on bogus information
    - lied lied lied about WMD in Iraq
    - made goevrnment 4 times larger than it was
    - patriot act (even the name is sick)
    - played off religion as a polician (Thomas Jefferson would have probably dueled him over that one)
    - lied lied and lied some more about global warming
    - gave BIG OIL big tax breaks
    - gave no-big contracts to Cheney's buddies at halliburton
    - stopped giving detailed economic data
    - gave convicted felon Libby a get out of jail free card
    - prevented access to secret meeting b/w Cheney and Big Oil
    - made us more Dependant on oil not less
    - did nothing after katrina other than a fly over (why them black people standin on dem roofs laura - he he it fuuny laura)
    - ruined our standing in the world
    - miss used 9/11 to instill fear in american
    - began borrowing money from China well BEFORE 9/11
    - borrowed so much from China our national security is at risk
    - used BIG GOV to bail out BIG WALL STREET to the tune of Trillions! ($30K to every American)
    - divided the nation
    - watched as the economy sank into recession and now depression
    - spending 1 trillion a year on Iraq while the USA sinks (note: China signed another sweet oil contract with Iraq I see - gee lucky them)

THIS is what happens when you vote in someone was born with a silver spoon in his arse (sideways) and his only qualification was "me found Jesus" .. oh and me daddy big man, BIG man... me want be BIG MAN too!! but laura say me still boy... me show her... me show me big dad... me show everyone!!!!! ME BIG MAN ME BIGGEST MAN!!!!
    *OOOO OOOOuuuu!!!*
    *EEEE EEEEE!!!!*
*ooo ooo ooo bounces around like an excited monkey itching arse and smelling... then tasting own feces*
    *OooOooooooooooo...*

actually, comparing Junior to a monkey is insulting... to monkeys everywhere. I apologize.

Did you see that "W" movie? I found it OK, sure would like to wait a few years to digest all the post-term information that comes out and then make a movie about the dumbassatron .

Don't underestimate W's manifest destiny stuff in Iraq - there's enough death and misery there to elevate W to the higher ranks of US President on that scale.

And then to actually lose the place while bankrupting the Country - - - Jackson ended up gaining valuable territory and thwarting the terrorists' goals.
