Hey. Lets say for a moment a God came to you and said

"I'm going to give you a choice, you can now, sleep forever from this point forward, or you can stay awake forever and never die from this point forward."

    What would you choose?

Certainly, living forever would eventually become a "bored to tears" sort of issue right?

But it hurts to think that the love in relationships could be lost through a forever sleep.

    What do you think?

I would not believe in God who would give me such a choice. Life to me is forever and death is a gate to the next life.

A gate eh? What leads you to this conclusion? What sort of life would that be?

    More details, please.
If I choose Eternal Life, will I get sick?
What happens if I get shot, dronwed or hung?
    What if I get eviscerated?
    Can I be touched?
    Can I have sex?

Oh dang. I like this, and at the same time. Ouch.

If life is a continuous cycle of living and dieing, while forgetting previous lives....

Its like having Alzheimer's, you get to experience everything for the first time, many times. But that goes for the pain as well as the joy.

I must admit: without pain how can one know joy?

    No sickness. No sleep.
You go to a place where people don't shoot and get drowned. Unless.... ouch, that could be bad if you did go to place where you could drown without dieing. Uuuuhhhg

Sex, yes. But you also get to have all knowledge that has ever been experienced. So sex may not be fun with knowing all human experience and universal knowledge. I dunno.

    Agreed.

OK, so if the God came to me I'd be like "Alright, so, I'd like to go chill in this heaven place for a couple tens of thousands of years, but when I get bored of having no pain, I'd like to go back down to Earth and forget all things until I again die.

    THERE, the best solution!

No Diode-Man, the best solution is to live life as it is now, and with death new life will come...no heaven no hell...just life and you and me.

you have a gift which is worth much more than a horse that can fly, you have a mind to let you dream, you have hands to make you act, and legs to get you were you want to be. You can make your wings and fly, such are the marvels of the mind for the creations are around us, the planes, helicopters, and rockets. Dream yourself a horse that can fly, and a dream is as reality.

I want to know, everything. Then I will make a choice. I would choose this, if that is not an option:

If returning to the "Original body", the endless sea... is also not an option, I choose oblivion over eternal slavery.

    I like your optimistic appraisal.

Dude... that is a scary azz movie. I've seen places like that in dreams, who's to say that such doesn't exist?

I too choose oblivion (non-existence) over eternal slavery.

    Freaked out man, freaked out.

The Universe has many strange places through-out it.

What is very interesting is that the souls that sort of reached a "nirvana" of joy are the ones that found life itself to be viral... How a location like "heaven" could make something as normal as life into something abnormal and considered viral because of pain, is hard to grasp.

No heaven is true without some pain to gain.

100% joy 100% of the time is not possible, and if it is, then its truly mindless.

    There must be balance!

Funny that the video is from a game, but it expresses some interesting philosophy.

Arcanum is/was a philosophical masterpiece. They REALLY don't make games like Arcanum, starcontrol2, planescape, etc ..anymore. Not fit for mass consumption.

Since there is no God, then this proposition is fruitless.

Ooooh, after checking out some screen shots, that looks like a really fun game. Reminds me a little of Baldurs Gate series.

Do you find nothing mystical or spiritual about the fact that you do have an imagination?

Your imagination has spawned some strange beliefs about god.

No, nothing at all, I just accept what my mind develops as part of my physical and mental makes up.

My imagination nor my common sense believe in such mythology as true but only as a myth made up by humans for various reasons over times.
