I can't believe no one has posted this yet: Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking And racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in the relative way, but youre older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say Home, home again I like to be here when I can And when I come home cold and tired Its good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntm1YfehK7U
I have so many favourite songs. My favourite lyrics at the moment though is this verse Let my weapons be your CHILDREN / Let my armies be your DAMNED Try to suffer on in silence / TRY TO STOP ME IF YOU CAN PNEUMATIC DESTROYER - PATHETIC SEDUCER DISTORTION SUFFICIENT SOME DAY - ONE DAY - WE'LL LIVE OUR LIVES AGAIN It's from This Cold Black by Slipknot. I fucking LOVE that song. It just does something to me, gives me a rush and makes me want to do something reckless.
"shit adds up at the bottom" -Tool Bottom "You won't do what you'd like to do. Lay back and let me show you another way." -Tool 4 degrees (five bucks to whoever can tell me what these lyrics mean, and how it is related to the name of the song. I'll give some more lyrics as a hint: "Take it up higher. 4 degrees warmer. Give in now and let me in. You'll like this in Don't pull it out.") Yeah I'm a huge tool geek. edit: More great tool lyrics "Soon the water will come and claim what is mine. I must leave it behind, and climb to a new place now. "
Well he came down to earth and lit in a tree I said Mr. Purple People Eater don't eat me I heard him say in a voice so gruff I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough It was a one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me. I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine But that's not the reason that I came to land I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&star...I_WCnE&usg=AFQjCNGESEIJvs6ngoyU6vim9PmmcZw4Ew
By all accounts it has a dual meaning. On the face of it, it appearss to be the temperature difference between the vagina and the anus (about 4 degrees; hotter in your butt) and the words appear to support this account. Another reflection is that the singer was a cadet at West Point, where as a freshman (first year) the cadets have no discretion and must take on eveything (shit) that comes their way and thus it is a song of freshman melancholy but with hope.
It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?... It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood, A neighborly day for a beauty. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?... I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you. So, let's make the most of this beautiful day. Since we're together we might as well say: Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you please, Won't you please? Please won't you be my neighbor? http://pbskids.org/cgi-registry/kidsbridge.cgi?context=rogers_songlist_realplayer
Best lyrics? Here is a part of the best lyrics ever: Some silicone sister with her manager's mister told me I got what it takes She said I'll turn you on sonny, to something strong if you play that song with the funky break, And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe to go outside And little Early-Pearly came by her curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride, Oh, some hazard from Harvard was skunked on beer playin' backyard bombardier Yes and Scotland Yard was trying hard, they sent a dude with a calling card, he said, do what you like, but don't do it here Well I jumped up, turnedaround, spit in the air, fell on the ground Asked him which was the way back home He said take a right at the light, keep goin' straight until night, and then boy, you're on your own And now in Zanzibar a shootin' star was ridin' in a side car hummin' a lunar tune Yes, and the avatar said blow the bar but first remove the cookie jar we're gonna teach those boys to laugh too soon And some kidnapped handicap was complainin' that he caught the clap from some mousetrap he bought last night, Well I unsnapped his skull cap and between his ears I saw a gap but figured he'd be all right He was just blinded by the light Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night Blinded by the light Mama always told me not to look into the sights of the sun Oh but mama that's where the fun is
Yeah! So can you feel your heartbeat racing? Can you feel the tension rise? Can you see the road you're walking? Are these times too hard to recognize? Part of where you're going, Is knowing where you're coming from. The hardest part of moving forward Are these times when we all stand alone. No! No! But you'll never believe. No! No! For all these times, that we walked away For all these times, that I've heard you say Give me something to believe in, Give me someone to believe in. For all these times, and it starts today. A generation always waiting, A revolution passed this time. Another reason to take stock Of all these things that you have left behind. Feelings that will never leave you Never make you change your mind, You gotta make it out past this one Always the wrong place at the wrong time. No! No! But you'll never believe. No! No! Lipgloss Lies, doin the time. Never gonna miss what I left behind. If I get the chance I'll do it again. I wouldn't change it! Change it! Change It! Change It! Lipgloss Lies, doin the time. Never gonna miss what I left behind. If I get the chance I'll do it again. I wouldn't change it! Change it! Change It! Change It! No! No! But you'll never believe. No! No! For all these times, that we walked away For all these times, that I've heard you say Give me something to believe in, Give me someone to believe in. Give me something to believe in, Give me someone to believe in. Change it! Change It! Change It!
Oh John99.... What the hell is "cut loose like a deuce"? Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night
Not just any car. "She's my little deuce coupe - - you don't know what I got " - - - "just one more thing: I've got the pink slip, daddy. " (That's not a bad line, eh? ) This generation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP3_WoUQe84&feature=related I had a pink slip racer for a neighbor for a while, back in the day - he had a 'vette with factory vinyl seats, steel floorboards with one rubber mat on the driver's side, an AM radio and a sun-faded dusty blue paint job. And his own pet engine, with customized running gear, tuned headers, and a channeled frame. And a row of much flashier cars, side by side in his back yard between the garage and the alley boxelder, with the keys and paperwork in a box on the fridge.
