Smart people are less happy than ignorant ones. But anyway, let's assume one wants to lower his IQ without chemicals and drugs. Is there a way to do it? I mean can someone unstudy things or forget to be smart?

I appreciate the jokes, but after those, you can try to contribute some useful ideas too...

It's not about intelligence - it's about knowledge.
    Ignorance is bliss.
Perhaps a head injury will cause amnesia.

Read any book on plate tectonics or fossil fuel and you'll lose at least 100 IQ points.

    Two things worth noting.

    1. Smart people are not always less happy. To be entrenched and intimate with reality does not necessarily make someone 'less happy'. The degree of happiness or contentment is mainly due to natural chemicals in the brain or lack thereof.

If we were to equate realism with intelligence.

    2. Study. The acquisition of knowledge from books does not mean that the subject is more aware.

Also how intellectually stunted does one have to be to be happy?

I had a never-ending argument about this with a psychiatrist I used to know.
I think this view is incorrect for most circumstances.
Sure, a chemical imbalance can cause a whole slew of "problems" but I think more often than not, the "problems" cause the chemical imbalances.

I believe it is nearly always a physical condition, unless the subject is under extreme and immediate duress. Problems obviously will make someone unhappy but this is a temporary situation that lasts for the duration of the circumstances equating to the problem itself. I believe the OP is addressing what can only be described as a chronic condition.

    Chicken or the egg.
There is still no professional consensus (unless you believe the pharm companies).

    1: Get a drill
2: Put a 3/8 inch wide, 1 inch long bit into the chuck and tighten.
3: Place bit against forehead, just below hairline, drill hole through skull
4: Bring some water to a rolling boil. Pour about a cup of boiling water into the hole.

Homemade lobotomy. I've considered it myself, but I can't find the right length of bit in the width I want at any local hardware store.

Beside's Ham's labotamy proposal, there is no real way to achieve a lower IQ unless you cheat the IQ test or perhaps surround yourself with new friends of low IQ and immerse yourself in their culture. Either way, you're kidding yourself

    straight answer:
do not challenge your mind and do not actively challenge other minds - the latter generally requiring the former.

get a job that does not challenge you. Hang out with people whose ideas are easy to understand and who do not challenge you. Read only simple texts. Do not take courses. Do not investigate anything but sounds late at night in your house. If you don't know something or can't figure it out, give up right then. Ask for help if you are really cornered, but wave away attempts to explain to you what to do. Ask them to do it.

Keep it simple. And once you have a good strategy for not challenging yourself, stop thinking about the issue. There is some challenge in the beginning setting it up.

    Don't look back.

If you find you are depressed in this mode of life, take Zoloft or whatever your psychiatrist suggests.

    straight answer 2:
eat poorly. poor nutrition will lower that IQ (especially if you are under 18)
make sure you do not get enough sleep. Ditto.

make sure you dont eat fish (especially shell fish) because they are the full of the essential fatty acids which make up our brain

If these dont work and your desprate, you could try injecting the protinen which they found atacks the mylin sheaths causing alzimers

Remove the brain and shrink it down to standard Homo Erectus dimensions.

I got dumber when I was pregnant and after the kids were born. After the kids were born it was due to lack of sleep.
While I was pregnant, I have no idea. I have heard other women mention it as well though. We laughed about it and said the baby was absorbing our brains.

Have you ever watched "are you smarter than a 5th grader" Its not that those people are dumb, its just that they haven't had to remember that info in a long time. They didn't retain it.
Quit watching the news, quit reading books, quit talking to smart people, etc...its easy to dumb yourself down.

The easiest one of them all - convince yourself that 95% of what you read on this site is true and accurate. That would make an idiot out of anybody...

Once you get beyond the ripe old age of 30 then your mental capacity begins to decline. So to counter-act this make sure you keep up with your studies, use your brain in daily activities. From what I understand, you really can't lower your IQ doing anything specific, but you can decrease cognitive ability by not eating enough, not sleeping enough, ext. Just stay healthy and use your brain daily and you should be ok though...
