    I agree.

As I understand it, the RSPCA has the legal right to enter premises under certain circumstances and seize animals.

That's debateable, but not really relevant to the RSPCA.

So, now I'm part of a grand conspiracy. I'm apparently a sock puppet and an animal rights activist.

And you're not paranoid. No, not a bit.

More vague claims with absolutely no evidence presented to back them up.

    *yawn*

You don't, you are guilty of convolving the acts of extremists with the respectable RSPCA.

Few people would support terrorising people, Metakron, so please try and keep this focussed. Is your rant about the ALF or the RSPCA?

It is entertaining to see which of you geniuses have been taken in by all of this. Animal rights activists engage in the lowest form of psychological predation against the human race, and some of the easiest to understand and break free of. It doesn't take much of an IQ or understanding to free yourself.

The way that several people have responded here reveals other than the most intelligent way of handling the subject matter. It doesn't look intelligent no matter what the subject is. In fact too many people indulge in obviously childish and non-intelligent behavior when confronted with a number of hot-button subjects. This makes them useful to those who need people to use. It makes them not so useful to themselves, their friends, their families, or their animals.

Ah, your ego is dented, and now you say that you are more intelligent than us, and we would hold the same beliefs as you, if we were more intelligent.

Thinking the whole world is wrong, and that you are right, is one of the symptoms of schizophrenia. As is paranoia, and sometimes multiple personalities are involved too, and oh, precious, you have two sock puppets on SciForums.

Oh, and you blew your chance to qualify your rant, was it about the ALF or the RSPCA? Not that I care anymore, I'm getting quite bored with your delusions.

I take offense at all these sock puppets running around. I don't even wear socks.

MetaKron, it comes down to this; does animal cruelty happen? If it does then what do we do about it?

Not much needs to be done about animal cruelty. Harsh controls only raise the price and inconvenience of keeping animals, and the worst way to try to prevent animal cruelty is to judge everyone a potential animal abuser. It really doesn't motivate people. It does have the effect of removing the effect of their human rights.

What's wrong with raising the price of keeping animals, surely that's better for the animals being raised (more room to move, better food, interaction with other animals, etc). I'm sure animals would rather not be tortured and killed by humans.

I'm struggling to understand your stance on animal wellfare, on the one hand you seem to be in support of animals and then on the other you want humans to have carte blanche to use them as they choose. Please help me out here!

I don't have an inclination to help you out with this. The only way that I have a clue what you mean by "tortured" is to analyze the rest of your rhetoric so that I can consider the source. I think that your idea of "torture" probably includes allowing them to sleep on the couch.

Carte blanche is a better way than a lot of unnecessary restrictions which leave no safe place for responsible owners. The SPCAs, which the RSPCA claims to be part of on its website, don't leave a safe place where an owner has done well enough to be safe from their attacks. One of the persecutions was of an owner who used flea powder when he didn't know that the dog had a skin condition.

What is wrong with raising the cost of keeping animals? It means a lot fewer homes for animals. You might say that they have a right to live. However, that alleged right has been less important to the activists than any trifling stupid quibble that they can come up with. The sum of it is that they want to prevent all but a few people from keeping pets. This excludes a large part of the Earth and that fraction of the Earth is growing every day. This is wrong and evil under some animal rights ideas, but the animal rights activists are willing to kill animals to prevent humans from keeping and caring for them.

A lot more needs to be done about having adequate homes for animals. Humans want animals near them, and volunteer a lot of their time and energy for this purpose. Animals are property and they shall remain property because this is best for the animals.

You've defined the wrong things as "the problem."

There's a reason why people won't admit being animal rights activists. It's because most people already know that animal rights is wrong, and it's getting wronger by the minute. Attempts to disguise it as animal welfare wore thin a long time ago.

You come across as a very bitter and broken person MetaKron, I feel sorry for any animals (including humans) that come into contact with you.

The problem is, the RSPCA, the SPCA, and the HSUS are using animal abuse as an excuse to hurt good owners who take good care of their animals. There are always ways to make false accusations, like claiming that it's abuse if your malamute is outside and the temperature outside is less than 50 degrees F. Sometimes it's just a lot of handwaving and no substantial accusation.

It's just a way to get animals out of the hands of humans. Wayne Pacelle of the HSUS has said "one generation and out" and follows that policy even as he talks his way around it. Taking pets away from people is abusive to those pets, but the AR people don't care. They like to kill people's pets. Sometimes they poison people's pets or go in and shoot them.

Treating animals as property used to guarantee some protection for the animals and the humans involved. We're finding out that the activists have complete contempt for the law even as they want new laws to forbid others from doing good works with animals. There is no reason to follow the law as an animal owner if the people who make the laws continually violate or allow violations of the law as part of their program.
