Some evidence has recently surfaced from Barack Obama's first run for the State Senate in Illinois. It seems he was a member of the New Party which was the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America. Obama's socialist allies have removed this info from their website, but the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived these pages:

Secret Socialist? Unbeknownst to his colleagues in the State Senate, who picked him to represent the Democrats in campaign finance reform negotiations, gave him Party endorsement in various races, etc. ?

Kind of a Zen question: if no one, including your fellow factionalists and other politicians, knows that you are a member of a political faction, are you in fact a member of that faction ? Could you, for example, be a secret Democrat while doing all your political stuff as an ostensible member of the Republican Party?

Meanwhile: is this stupider than "secret Muslim", or smarter ?

I'd say it is a bit more desperate than the whole Muslim thing. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.

Palin participated in Alaskan secessionist events, that's rather un-American. Anyway, Barney Frank was also a Democratic Socialist. I went to one of their meetings where he spoke. It's a good thing to be a part of.

    Why yes, yes it was.

Although McCain should best be careful about pointing too many fingers. He never knows when his past could come back and bite him on his backside.

what a pathetic attempt, McCain cant even walk straight or lift his arms because of the torture he had to go threw while serving the American public in the army when he was a captive, you have to be a complete idiot to compare his records as serving the US to that of obama who is a Trojan horse that will sink the US.

but what do I give a fuck, if Americans are stupid enough to listen to you because the Zionist drove them in Iraq and planned 911, go ahead, bury yourself.

So because he was in the armed forces and was captured and tortured, it somehow excuses all of his shady dealings and past? Okay.

You're basically saying that because he was tortured, he can get away with anything and everything? Even joining a group that had affiliations with ultra-right wing death squads?

Righteo. Seems you can get away with anything and everything if you've served in the armed forces! Get involved with a right wing group that had nazi links and links to death squads in Central America? No problem if you served and got captured.. Is that what you're saying?

I think you can do better than that. This is just one of the many smears the Republicans are going to cast as we get nearer to election day. I dont think this nor any of the other smears are going to hold as they have in previous elections. For one Obama has been effective and debunking them quickly and firing back. Two, I think the American electorate is getting a wee bit smarter because of the way things have gone. What is that Bush saying, "fool me once.....you cant fool me again"...something like that.

The right is freaking out. Between the economy and McCain tanking, they will get increasingly desperate and bitter. For the sake of argument, Democratic Socialism is entirely compatible with the Constitution, and just as valid as Neo-conservatism.

You know, I hate to throw away the civility of PC, but since unfounded, fear mongering demagoguery has apparently become campaign bread and butter, I do feel compelled to reply…

Let us not forget that in order for Mr. McCain to have become a POW that means he lost that fight!! Look at that record!!

Such heroic military accomplishments make him qualified to be Commander in Chief?? Do you want a loser as your President?!?!?

All of this stuff is what happens when the Right is losing an election. You've got Sheriffs envoking Obama's middle name at campaign rallies, emails calling Obama a secret Muslim (or now a secret socialist), and people fabricating a deep relationship between him and Ayers.

This is the filthy politics that cost John McCain the 2000 primaries against GW. This is what cost John Kerry the election in 2004. This is the Republican answer to a candidate who actually talks about issues.

I wish more Republican folks would think about it, rather than spread the racist, fear-mongering bullshit that their favorite candidate tells them to.

If this information is true, it's true. Socialists and Communists will defend this guy because they want a radical leftist in office, and then they pretend he's "mainstream"...

If McCain had a neo-Nazi friend that bombed abortion clinics (which he doesn't), the leftists would RIGHTFULLY bring that topic up over and over again, because who woud want a president with friends like that ?
Of course that isn't true, yet Obama DOES have a pro-Communist terrorist friend, and radical leftists blow it off... it just shows how radical they are. They actually sympathize with pro-Communist terrorists.

Cazzo, McCain does have such friends and the reason you do not hear about it is because the liberal commies don't bring it up. The liberal press thinks it is not news worthy and has not done what you said it would do.

I don't get the whole friends/ mentor thing reflecting on your actual beliefs. I'm sure everyone can find someone they are friends with or used to be friends with that believes or partakes in less than what would be considered ideal. And just because someone is your friend doesn't mean you believe what they believe or do the samethings they do. Do people honestly believe that all of their friends believe and do the exact same things? I have friends who are always smoking some drug or constantly out scaring people with pictures of an aborted fetus and particpating in the "pray the gay people straight" rallies. I don't do any of those things nor do I advocate them. I don't get what your friends have to do with who you are.

No, idiot, Obama does not have a pro-Communist friend. Wow, I just gotta ask where the hell do you get this information? I mean, CNN leans right, but at least they're sorta mainstream...could you watch them instead of Fox News for a bit?

How can't you see that this whole Ayers thing is a scam by the McCain campaign? Why weren't you pissed off about this during the primaries, when Obama was answering questions about it? Or three weeks ago? Why today? Why is it now that all of a sudden you care? Want my opinion? I think you're upset about it today because you only found out about it today, and are simply regurgitating the bullshit propaganda that that Fake News spat at you.

Also, this stuff is only coming up because McCain can't compete on the issues.

If the Iran Contra stuff and some of the later news is even approximately real, McCain has had, and may still have, close associations over several years with groups full of neo-Nazis who bombed clinics.

Not groups who used to, many years ago - when McCain was the age Obama was during Ayers' Weatherman associations, the Bush family was dealing oil and steel to the Nazis in violation of American law - but groups who were doing it at the time of McCain's association.

And the left has been trying to get that into the media for years now. No luck.
