What do you mean unlimited as long as you pay? Like you said you pay 5.00 a month. How long can you play online in that month for 5.00?

Wow, that is cheap then. I kind of glanced over the booklet inside that it came with but I assumed it would cost a lot more then that. That isn't bad at all then.

Ok next question since you and Mad play online. Do you find that there are a lot of teenagers/ adults on there just going nuts talking a lot of crap and swearing their asses off?

It depends on what game you play really, but sure there are those and there are mature, intelligent people. It just depends. Usually it's not so bad, if you play with friends.

Ok, I am a bit weary because my son is 12 and he would be playing. But I know a lot of his friends play Halo 3 online.

Asgard, there are headsets for voice communication.

Shorty, as I said if he plays with friends it should be fine. It's not so bad, maybe the occasional curse word but nothing serious unless the guy really is a dickhead (not your son I mean some people)

I just read an article about the upcoming Wii games, way more exciting than the other 2 consols. Last week I tried Wii tennis, it is actually a decent workout, specially if you have a large enough room.

    http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/206400/21-upcoming-wii-games-to-drool-over/

We have the Xbox 360 and you should get live, $5 is nothing a month, and there are older arcade games you can only get online. I got Marbe Blast Ultra for $5, and it is excellent graphic and fun, specially for kids.

The only game I bought for myself for the consol is Ace Combat 6, just inbcredible flight simulator with almost real graphic. You don't need to shot anyone, you can just fly above terrains. With the live feature you can make up teams with your friends, and fight together.

Also check out gameshops with used games. I got Call of Duty 3 for $12, you don't need to spend $40 for each game all the time.

This is going to be one rainy weekend, so we are going to do a Wii/Xbox exchange with my friend...

Also, most games have downloadable demos online, so you can try before buying them.

as i said so far we have only played wii bowling and mario cart and they were quite low energy games (though fun)

Most of the trash talk on Xbox Live is actually from the 12 and 13 year olds. They like to call each other gay. Sometimes you'll get some idiot kid who thinks it's cool to say "fuck" or something. But I really doubt you'd be exposing your kids to anything they don't hear from their friends.

You can set up the voice communication so that you can hear the talking thru the TV so you can monitor what's going on so long as you're in the room.

Unlimited online play for $60 a year is a deal.

I recommend GTA IV, for online play.

The single player is pretty good, but not as good as the previous installments.

You can't play with 2 people on the same machine so far as I'm aware though.

I think you want to get something like EA sports fight night round 3
    http://www.easports.com/fightnightround3/index.jsp
    Ideal for multiplayer at home.

And I'd be wary of xbox live, sure it would be a lot of fun, but that's just it, it's too fun, why do anything else? Before you know it you have fat nerd children.

There are some Party like games. I.e.
    Fusion Frenzy (I & II)
    Viva Piñata Party Animals
Thrillville (Allows one player to make themeparks, but all the minigames are potentially multiplayer)
    Scene It?

If you actually did decide to take it online, you then have the ability to download a lot of small "Arcade" games, most will be Trial versions unless you are prepared to pay M$ points on them, however it should be enough to test them out.

Fight night round 3 is my favourite sports game ever.

    It's crap by yourself.

    Good against people on live.

And brilliant against someone sat beside you.

If you are really concerned there is an entire parent control system on the XBOX, it pretty much means you can control how your Child's account operates.

For instance you can make it so they can't change the account, you can decide on which Zone they frequent (There are Four Zones: Family, Recreation, Pro, Underground. They have been ordered so the chances of Smack talk goes from 0 [Family] to total verbal diarrhoea [Underground])

Obviously you can also adjust their privacy settings to stop people communicating with them using headsets or camera messages.

You can also set a "Family Timer" so only certain times of the day will the Xbox actually play games, this really is for the more restrictive parents that feel their children can't be taught to not play when they have other stuff to do.

You can also block them from accessing XBOX live or downloading new games demo's etc.

The settings can all be done from the "System" blade under Family Settings.
