I downloaded it. I will tell you what I think of it.

Btw: I found this at the movie review site. Just by going by this I would NOT let my young children watch it.

    Movie IT

    Frightening/Intense Scenes
EditHistory There is blood and a frightening clown that eats children.

    Profanity
EditHistory Words like, "Damn" and "Hell" are used a couple of times. The racial slur, "n****r is used about three times. And also, "Son of a b***h is used once.

    Sex & Nudity
EditHistory A woman is seen naked in bed with her husband. Some kissing in a couple of scenes

That wasn't gruesome. He got swallowed whole. I just thought the goat leg on the windshield was the most blood they showed in the entire movie. My parents saw the movie first in theaters and when it came on video they let me watch it. When I watch IT now I can't even remember why it scared me so much. It's so stupid and cheesy. I wouldn't let small kids watch it because of the creepy clown. I really hate clowns.

You don't have to go out and hire Chuckie or raging Dinos. Watch the news any day of the week, or watch any Hanna Barbara cartoon (or quite a few Walt Disney ones as well) and you'll see enough violence to last you quite a while.

I'd think a human being eaten would be gruesome to little kids..
Especially the screaming that went with it..

I agree. I'm not about to start desensitizinbg my children so they can tolerate more and more violence.
Heck, I didn't even allow the first person shoot 'em kind of video games.

Oh well I thought it was funny. Nobody liked that guy anyway, I don't think anyone even noticed that he was gone.

The raptors bothered me the most, but I was still totally fascinated by them. It made my trips to the children's museum in Pasadena, CA all the more exciting when I got to dig up the dinosaur bones and encouraged my cousin to become a paleontologist. I think Jurassic Park was a valuable learning experience for me. We watched it on movie night with the kids I look after and they all loved it. Except for that one kid who has to sit in the back and by himself because his parents don't let him watch anything that has "villains or bad guys" in it. I feel so bad for him.

I don't like first person shooter games either. One's like Halo I don't mind so much because with the purple alien blood it seems like a game, but one's that are based on real wars, I don't like at all. It makes me sick to my stomach that anyone would even turn that into a game.

It's not so much different than watching the news and having a child in the room, there is far worse stuff going on in the world and of course being reported than what you'll find in a single film.

It's really must just be a guy thing. Odd.

I think it depends on the child. As a young kid I'd really get off on horror films, I constantly wanted more terrifying ones. On the other hand my 12 year old niece will get scared if she watches the X-men with the lights on.

A close friend of mine from high school, got scared watching KungFu Panda. She's 20 years old. Kids like her shouldn't have watched Jurassic Park at 3 or 10 or 16, she's afraid of everything. I can't even enjoy an amusement park with her because she's terrified the entire time (plus I seem to be a bit on the thrill-seeker side when it comes to roller coasters). You've just got to know your kid.

Yup, that's basically what I was trying to say when I said it depends on the kid. Some kids just enjoy the fear/exhiliration, others just get shit scared.

This is VERY true. My youngest actually has been acting a bit strange lately.
When we go out at night to walk the dog or something he usually rides his bike.
He used to ride around the park that we were walking in. He stays really close to us now.

He also got all weirded out a few weeks ago when we went for a long walk. There was an ambulance and police cars at the baseball diamond and it was getting dark. He kept saying lets go home, lets don't go near there. He kept saying I wonder what happened. I said someone probably got hurt during the baseball game. This was after he heard all about that kid who got his head cut off on the Grey Hound Bus. It was on the news so much that week. Then this whole thing with the stuff getting stolen from my car and hearing that there have been other break ins in the area.

He has never been disturbed by video games or movies. He is disturbed with things he has heard about in REAL LIFE.

Wouldn't it be hilarious to watch a 3 year old's reaction to 'House of a 1000 corpses'?

It's a terrible thing to do, but its kind of fun to scare children. My brother was no scared of this dumb movie called "House" made back in the 80s. That he took the video cassette and hid it. Then he took the case and hid that too. It was a rental and it took days for us to find it. And after we watched "Child's Play" with Chuckie he wouldn't let us talk about it. It was so funny.

Not really, there's so much worse things in the world.

I watched 'The Exorcist' at the age of 8 and i was fine. The stuff they taught me at in school regarding Adolf Hitler, the nazis and the holocaust messed me up more than any hardcore gore film could.

suprisingly, the dinasours combined only have fifteen minutes of onscreen time in the first Jurrassic Park.

My daughter first watched Jurassic Park when she was 3. She figured out how to run the remote control through that movie & used to rewind to the part where the guy gets eaten off of a toilet. The irony of being eaten by a T-Rex while sitting on a toilet seems to have some sort of appeal to a toddler.

Anyway, she loved all things dinosaur at that age and by four owned all three Jurassic Park movies as well as any other movie or cartoon about dinosaurs. She could give the scientific names to dinosaurs in a museum by the time she was four and I have a video of her running around the Mall of America when she was four shouting, "look, mommy! A Parasauralophus!"

Now, when the evening news came on, then I made her leave the room or turn the channel.

No nightmares. No damage. She's in the gifted & talented program in her elementary school today.

People go overboard trying to protect their kids sometimes. Granted, there are a lot of movies I've kept from my daughter's ability to see, but Jurassic Park?? What are you afraid they'll find out? That nature has predators and prey? Such knowledge was good enough for prehistoric peoples in antiquity, so perhaps even the evening news shouldn't be off-limits for a toddler.

I'm betting diodeman's real issue with Jurassic Park is that it has the effect of inspiring children to learn science, evolution, etc. -all the things that Christian fundies object to. After all, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing for the religious. If he's not a fundy, then I apologize in advance. It's just a feeling I get.
