Is it just me or does Joe Lieberman seem like a grease ball? Now I see he's giving a speech in support of McCain - what a creep. This guy must own stock in Iraq War II because he seems like a guy that will do anything in support of the war. Which makes me wonder why the f*ck Connecticutians would vote for him? I thought they were more Liberal minded.
No one can advance themselves in US politics unless they throw themselves in the dust and grovel without shame before the idol of the Israeli lobby. Joe Biden has done the same.
Joe Lieberman is the most opportunistic prick in government and Connecticutians should feel ashamed for electing him into office. I'm looking forward to the day he is given the boot.
It's not you. He IS a greaseball. The only reason he left the Democratic Party wa sbecause he lost the primary election, so ren Independant against the Democratic nominee. I can only imagine the only reason he won the seat again, is because he took some Republican votes, he appealed to those who call themselves Independant and of course took the Dems who voted for him in the Primary. He as about as smarmy and self-serving as politicans come.
Bet is on... That asshole was never a Democrat. I guess in a way it is genius, to be a built in Republican among the Dems...
Oh boy, are you slow... He was in his behaviour and voting pattern. Check his votes, he voted more republican than half of the real Reps....
Provide proof. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/reid-lieberman-could-lose-his-chairmanship-2008-05-12.html “Sen. Lieberman votes with Democrats 85 or 90 percent of the time, except when it comes to Iraq and some national security issues,” Jim Manley, Reid’s spokesman, said. Reid has a close relationship with Lieberman, and stood by him after he was spurned by a number of fellow Democrats in 2006. Lieberman later won back his seat, running as an Independent, and agreed to caucus with Democrats to give them their narrow two-seat majority. Lieberman was awarded the chairmanship this Congress, but some have speculated that his leadership spot on the panel could be in jeopardy if Democrats don’t need him to keep their majority if they pick up more seats this November.
I was checking into it, and looks like I might be wrong on that one! The horror! I must be getting older, but let's keep it honest. What I have found said Lieberman has been consistantly to the right of the party median. Let's throw in some numbers for confusion: In the 101st Senate (Lieberman's first) his first dimension score was -0.247 while his party median was (-0.349). The floor median (including all Senators) was -0.166. This places Lieberman closer to the floor median then to his party's median. The following are his scores through the remainder of the Congresses: 102nd Dem= -0.361, Lieb= -0.26, Floor= -0.176 103rd Dem= -0.365, Lieb= -0.272, Floor= -0.186 104th Dem= -0.375, Lieb= -0.285, Floor= 0.000 (Republican take-over) 105th Dem= -0.378, Lieb= -0.297, Floor= 0.135 106th Dem= -0.364, Lieb= -0.31, Floor= 0.122 107th Dem= -0.37, Lieb= -0.322, Floor= -0.037 (Dems tack-over after Jeffords switch) 108th Dem= -0.381, Lieb= -0.335, Floor= 0.06 Anyway, I strongly dislike the fucker, he is too holly and sanctimonious...And giving a speech at the RNC? That is pure treason... P.S.: Although that is also possible that the 2 parties are so close to each other that it is really hard to tell the difference.
"Nobody hates Joe Lieberman. It's just that his record is terrible. Joe's biggest fault is that he sabotages Democrats behind the scenes, destroying intra-party unity and sandbagging progressive causes. Am I the only one who thinks this? No. Check out this article in the Jewish Journal for a fascinating look into Lieberman's troubles:" http://www.jewishjournal.com/home/preview.php?id=16145
But he still vote the majority of time with the Democrats, by a fair margin. He is still left of the Republicans.
If you saw his speech tonight, you'd have seen him praising Clinton, and getting people at the Republican convention to applaud...he may seem to have his nose firmly superglued to the Israeli lobby's anus, but that was seriously funny. The reaction shots of slightly annoyed, but applauding, Republicans was the big laugh of the night for me. I think Lieberman is a Democrat who is married to the issue of Israel's security. Likely, anything that is good for Israel is good for America in his view, and things like the Iraq war make better sense from the standpoint of defending Israel than they ever did from that of defending America. So, by virtue of that policy goal, he found himself at odds with the party and in line with the President, which is how he became his own peculiar island.
You know, that's the LAST type of person we should have in office. Replace with world Israel with Japan or China or Russia or England or Australia ... it's still the same. That's the last type of people we want in US congress. A Senator should be working first for his constituents and next for all Americans and never primarily for the welfare of some other country.
