So I yust finished this game and I do wonder have those people who made the game lost all sence of humor? I liked the improve in grafics but in overall I do believe that their are less options then in san andreas and that the game was far more depressing.

I can't even be bothered to play through it. It's not really very fun.

There is supposedly going to be an expansion over the coming months, at least that's what was promised. I think they didn't go as far as San Andreas because they want to milk this expansion cash cow which you can't do if you release everything in one product.

well the general story is depressing, most of the characters seemed depressed. The main character is quit smart but a hypocrite. In fact I found it a shame that afther draco's speach I only have the choises to shoot him or let him live while actually I wanted the option for nico to shoot a bullet through his own head.
I missed all the little extra's like buying houses owning property and doing little random jobs, and customizing your own car.
Also to go along with the depressing mood of the game none of the game charaters where really happy or funny (except for berny) and that black guy actualy sended me a message saying that I've should have shot him.

San andreas on the otherhand was hilarius it had jetpacks and blind drivers. The radio stations where extremely funny and there where a million times more extra's in a terrain that was far more divers.

Orcot, you do realise that a number of things were cut back on not just for the Expansion(s) but because of the advances in the actual graphics engine. (like the physics)

On top of that it did ship with a multiplayer which is new to the GTA series considering the only other multiplayer's that have existed have been hacks.

I see what's new and I liked the old better but apart from that my mayor concern is the badly writen story. Personally I would've gone back to the ID of the first GTA where you could choose between 3 or 5 characters. And let them room around the world at the same time so the actions you make have real consequences to the characters, now I feel that whatever choises you had in the game had little or no effect on the evolution of the game.

Actually they didn't on every platform, only on PC. Obviously going back to the originals though is a different game altogether though.

I personally loved it. San Andreas was for me was a whole lot of nothing, large areas with jack all to do in them. I loved GTA 4 storyline i think it is the most realistic and enjoyable up to date. Niko was an endearing character whilst cj was just really vanilla for a so called gangster. San andreas storyline really sucked and quite a few missions made me want to kill someone.

I'm playing it now. It is fun. But, I loved the previous GTA III trilogy. Especially San Andreas. That game was magnificent. They really scaled back, while making everything prettier. Some stuff is better than ever, like speeding through the city with the cops chasing.

You have to admit that draco was right in the end. A hitman who has a fixed rate for killing someone accusing someone else for a couple of deaths it's damm hypocryte.
I admit CJ was a bit Vanilla for a black gansta but he was fun, also most of the things CJ did was because he was forced to do them by others and he hardly complains whilst having clear goals therefore you had some sympathy for the guy, while Nico on the other hand searches quit hard to find his problems so he can moun abouth them. Also he doesn't really have any goal in live nor does he do any real introspective thinking. At the end of the game I have the feeling that the character didn't achieve anything really and yust had misery all allong the way, whilst CJ accomplished so much.

Offtopic posts have been send to the Cesspool.

Tnerb, you should chill out, it's bad enough having to cleanup after spam bots.
While GTA 4 didn't live up to the hype that most people expected, it still has some things going for it. For example, it's use of Endorphin for Physics and Animation, It's expansion "The Lost and the Damned" wasn't too bad either (albeit short compared to a full game).

When it comes to games you should consider judging them on their own merit, not on their previous encarnations or what else is on the market and definitely not from Hype.

GTA 4 was crap, I only played for like 2 weeks, and only because I was a gta fanboy so I stuck it out thinking something might get good, but it didn't. It was a huuuge step down from san andreas, the first backwards step in the series and a significant one. San andreas is still one of the best games ever.

I genuinely would rather play any other gta right now, including 1 or 2. Definitely 3, 3 was awesome, and still is.
The main thing that sucks about 4 is the main character-
He's russian, who wants to pretend to be a russian? He even dresses like a russian, I appreciate the authenticity, but it's like I'm engulfed in a fantasy where I'm someone I wouldn't even spit on. It's an absurd concept. (I know eventually you can shop at non-russian stores, but by then it's too late, I already hate his guts).
Plus he sucks, even for a russian, he's slow and uncoordinated. Cj in san andreas was a beast, as was tommy vercetti and that quiet guy in 3. They were fast and agile and stylish with the way they ran around and punched and stomped. SA was especially awesome because CJ improved as you went along, in abilities and beefed up in muscle, this was the best part of the game and the obvious thing to expand upon with 4 but they just completely took it out and gave you a clumsy heavy footed flea bitten low life with no opportunities to improve.

Then there's issues like the cars feel like you're steering boats around, maybe it's more realistic, I don't know or care, it's not fun. No planes- obviously fucking stupid, again a step back, how is that going to be better? No countryside- I loved the countryside and deserts in san andreas. It's just good to escape the rat race and cruise highways out in the wide open spaces, plus you'd get the interesting missions on farms and weed plantations and etc. It's just a more diverse and interesting environment than a dark grimey slimey city, I've heard gta 4 is a fairly accurate portrayal of new york city? Well I can scratch that destination off my go to list right now because it's fucking disgusting. It actually looks like eastern europe, so depressing and bleak.
They should have expanded on the cities surrounded by countryside idea and added random encounters with back-country inbred cannibals and shit like that.

The list goes on and on, san andreas had jetpacks, parachutes, the ability to form crews off the cuff, I mean so much, and not one thing should have been taken out for 4, it should have been built upon and made better, it's a lesser game any way you look at it.
And I know there are trivial little improvements here and there, with ragdoll physics and obviously smoother graphics, but big fucking deal, so there should be and oh so much more. Certainly nothing should have been worse, but next to everything was.
