Plumes of hot magma

"We traditionally picture the plumes of hot magma that rise through the mantle as mushroom-shaped with a thin stalk feeding a bulbous head, or hotspot, beneath the crust. However, seismic imaging in Iceland reveals a patchy structure without a stalk, leading some researchers to suggest there are no plumes at all."

Proving once again that geology has been based upon a priori metaphysical theories and not empirical data as science should be.

Seismic data is only seismic data and morons (aka human beings) still have to interpret the data which they always manage to get wrong some how.

So the plumes look different than we thought but they are still plumes.

Maybe we should ask OIM to look at all the geological specimens, satellite data, tectonics, geomagnetics, seismics and mineralogy, so he can show us where they went wrong?

How about it, dude, can you set things right for the world? We need you, bro.

Only three dimentional figures are correct in the three dimentional realm. As such, even if it is off by one inch, it is still wrong.

I don't have the time and it would require an extra server farm and lifetime to catalogue the encyclopedia of geological errors and inaccuracies.

But you know what all of them is, and every one of them are, and you won't tell us?

Such a disservice to humanity, I'm sure, must burden you with a great and heavy burden - all that stuff you know about but can't put into English...

I've highlighted the key point in this post, seeing as how people seem to be missing it.

    Some researchers, not all researchers.

I'll wager that it also has some researches suggesting that the icelandic plume that has been imaged is atypical, and (the atypical results) could be as a result of the presence of a hotspot and a mid ocean spreading ridge.

The article also suggests that the new results may be completely understandable within the current framework (and implies that it should have possibly been expected as a result of recent advances in the understanding of mantle composition and structure), another point that appears to have been overlooked by certain posters on this thread.

I have to concur with Vkothii.
Master of oil that is good and right please let us in to your world of mastery and knowledge.
I, for one, am in awe of you. You are so intelligent, forward thinking and enlightened and your brain is so big, so enormously huge, so bloody impressive..actually, maybe there is a way for mankind to tap into your brain(*Spud giggles like a little boy at the keyboard at this image..tap, tap, tap.." Hey boys, we got us a live one here,..we're rich!" and the massive brain of OIM is oozing a plasmic, dare I say it?..plume!! of energy and the world is saved!*)and oil will be roight in the woirld.
