I've noticed that a very large portion of the community is left-wing; am I the only right winger? And madanthony....and that's about all I can think of.

I'm also curious to see, generally, whether or not the majority of this forum consider themselves to be left wing or right wing; left wing tends to be the "reform" class of politics. It is not that I am against reform, but I usually do not agree with the type of reform proposed by most leftists.

    Right wing
    Wikipedia

Generally, most right wingers are capitalists and more based on authoritarian/authority based society in favor of gradual change with respect to conventional tradition and domestic culture.

    Left wing
    Wikipedia

Generally, most leftists are socialist/communists and are more based on an egalitarian society in favor of abolishment of traditional concepts and society.

It is not that I disagree with change or equal playing fields, but leftists often present it in a way that I do not agree with most of it or in a manner which I find unrealistic or simply inefficient.
    Of course, these are not absolute definitions;

I think I am probably right-wing; I generally align myself with the Republican Party. On the Political Ideology Quiz, I also turned up with tendencies towards fascism, libertarianism, and democratism.

Also (though I don't want to speak definitively for anyone else) I think String is right-wing.

Why guess, where there is a convenient test?

    http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

    Personally I am:

    Economic (left-right): +0.33
    Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.57

So, from Norsefire's perspective of iron fisted social norms adopted by the state or culture constraining the rights of people to act in ways contrary to those norms, I am "left" because of my libertarian streak. On economic matters I am almost exactly in the center (though slightly right leaning).

Overall I though the test was interesting, though I do quibble with some of the questions in the test, as to which I did not agree with any of the alternatives provided, but had to hold my nose and choose one.

It would be interesting to see a plot of where various people here fall.

Yes, I have taken that test, although I do not remember the results. I shall retake it now.

The current norms of society may not always be beneficial for the vast majority of the people.

I support a more egalitarian society, undoing the unfair and exploitative economic systems which exist today, while preserving traditional forms of morality.

And if people are not the same? You cannot just use aggression whenever someone wears a different hat.

I consider myself a socialist. On the political compass, I am in the bottom left.

I am not sure that I would agree with Wiki's definition of a right winger, but count me in as a far right winger. To me, in the present political climate, many would probably see me as extreme.

It isn't about compasses, unless you would like to say that the compass in is the center of the line. But, I think I would still have a problem with it.

Certain things in life create things that happen to each of us and we cannot be one way or another all of the time. We must be able to be in flux about those things that we experience as we grow.As examples I would think that how to spend money changes, how we treat ourselves, who we choose as our friends and the pleasure we seek in life are all changing through time. To be able to adapt to our changing environment we must be able to keep an open mind about stuff we need to adjust to. Sometimes being right wing about issues then again left wing about others.
