CNN just had a report on it, but withouta conclusion. They showed the decomposing body with the rottening flesh on it....

What do you think it is ? Are you going with the raccoon/cat hypothesis ?

First I thought it was a turtle without the shell, but yes, I go with the skined racoon. The upper jaw was simply broken thus it appears to be a beak...

Does fur fall out if a furred animal is dead in the water for some time?

I'll settle with racoon until further studies on the body are conducted.

I think so, fur gets loose after some decomposing anyway.

and it was in salt water on top of that. I would think that would do more damage than fresh water.

This massively supports the Raccoon hypothesis.
    Thanks for the image.

Is it just me, or it looks like a pig? The body proportionality, I mean.

I think that it looks like a pig and the upper teeth are missing. It's a younger pig and I think that it was cooked on a spit. The hair mostly burned off and the skin has a cooked appearance to it. I'm sorry that they didn't get to eat it.

The hair wouldn't have rotted off. Skin rots before hair does. Hair or fur are often among the last things left of a decaying corpse.

The second picture looks like a pig to me too. It's the first animal that came to mind anyway.
