So ? They still make it. So it didn't originate from the mantle. Besides, it's not even true. "The microbes form massive organic mats that cover the surface of rock pipes reaching up to four meters. These pipes are not preformed structures; rather, they are formed—and shaped—by the microbes' consumption of methane. The microbial mats consist of sulfur-reducing bacteria and species of Archaea, a domain of life distinct from plants, animals and bacteria." http://www.genomenewsnetwork.org/articles/08_02/without_oxygen.shtml
Methane is the only hydrocarbon that can be formed at crustal pressure. http://www.pnas.org/content/99/17/10976.full
The reason why certain extremophiles including archaea feed off of methane is because methane comes from the mantle and the extremophiles and archaea are part of the deep hot biosphere.
I mispoke and I stand corrected. See how happily I admit when I'm wrong? Bacteria reject methane from their systems as well.
They make it because their biology rejects it. The formation of any hydrocarbon other than CH4 at crustal pressures is impossible. http://www.pnas.org/content/99/17/10976.full
This doesn't make any sense. As far as I know. So why did you bring it up in this thread ? Do you admit your mistake ?
I guess he left Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I should get back to work.. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
What does it matter ? Probably to keep them from inflating lol In order to not be ejected it has to beneficial; it has to be absorbed actively. It's just a by product of digestion that gets ejected together with the rest.
Cazzo as soon as i saw this thread thats what i thought of as wellPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! enmos why do you bother? this troll doesnt understand basic biology so why do you bother talking to him. i mean forget methane what about his comment on CO2????????? what idiocy
