actually im against public indecency laws as well but its a different issue. This isnt about pornography (as tiassa said) or offending people by showing sex or there body in public. Its SPECIFICALLY about censorship of the written form which is much more concerning. What if it was a purly political message like "howard is an old bastard" (im sorry i know its bad, it was all i could think of on short notice). Now ok its not the best way to express your displeasure but once censorship begins there is no end to it.

Tiassa to be fair it IS queensland which is the state which had joe beocupetson as premur

    ok, here is another scenario.

you walking down the street with your wife and kids. Your all naked. A troupe of horny guys out on retreat from the nursing home show up and stare, they are also naked. Is that ok?

john try this one, your wearing a short skirt (or at least your wife is) and a group of horny guys start staring at her, is that ok?

grow up, it happens now and may or maynot be illegal but if everyone was naked it wouldnt make any difference.

Stop trying to divert the thread into something which it has apsolutly NO relivence

Im sorry Asguard but you said you opposed public decency alws and suppport nudism. So then you cannot tell other people where to wear clothes and where not to.

I also see you did not answer my questions, they are legitimate questions. Do you really want you, your wife, your kids eating in a crowded restaurant where everyone is naked? There are health reasons, amongst other things and it is just insane.

actually i dont care what other people do.

As i said though this thread is about FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and nothing else. The guy wasnt naked, he was charged with wearing a t-shirt that the police officer found offencive, nothing more.

If you want to debate that get your own thread

I am just showing that your outlook is ill-conceived and not thought through. I can go on and on but the bottom line is that everything is cool until YOU are the one being offended.

So now your wife walks around naked and [edited by John] to pick somthing up. Someoine takes a picture as she turns her head to look at the camera and puts it on a t-shirt, first they photoshop lewd instruments into it.

    Is that ok?

    are you stupid?

There are laws dealing specifically with photgraphy without permission and they have NOTHING to do with indecency laws

What about freedom of expression? It is public domain, the shirt was for personal use.

Guess you want to use laws when they suit you.

That is typical of the uber liberal.

    your really stupid arnt you

You want to mix 3 sperate pieces of legislation

    1) obsenity laws (pure censorship)
    2) public indecency laws (remenets of the church's atempt to demonise women and a breach of freedom of a persons own body)
    3) the laws that provent people from photgraphing people without there concent (actually inacted to protect women on beaches from having there breasts photographed for personal pleasure)

I laughed loudly when I read this statement...

I don't know where to begin with political statements and bands before 1979 - there was of course The Who, The Beatles, CCR, Janis Jopplin, about a million bands with political messages pre-1980. Someone might think that the majority of musicians were liberals if they got to looking at it closely... :m:

Anyway the shirts are stupid. No the law should not be able to stop people from wearing them - on the other hand the freakin tard that wears that shirt should be ready for public beatings. There needs to be a superhero named Darwinator that just makes the inevitable happen quicker for people like this.
