The last one was escape velocity right ?

    EDIT: No it wasn't.

What in the mother of all swear words happened to the pace and the drama ? It feels so ordinary now..

OK. I have to make another post about this...

What the heck is going on ? A chief and Baltar bonding session, some religious stuff, and some random explosion on the demetrius. COME ON.
I'm rapidly starting to lose faith here. This is dragging on far to damn long, even the trial was more dramatic than this shit.

I have to agree. They're dragging this shit out too much. The end of last season seemed to be building up to a some great climax which we all waited a whole frackin' year to see and now...............squat.

They may have gone too far in making so many people cylons and revealing them all at once. Most of the tension over who the next Cylon is is now gone. Now we're left with the question of how the hell this could possibly make sense, and they need to start giving us some answers.

ALL WILL BE REVEALED, my ass.

I want to say, "I hate the show" but I don't. I'm annoyed with the show, but it's been steadily declining for a while now. I mean... what did I expect?

They need to fix this . before it becomes irreparable.

Maybe this is just their way of showing us that it's for the best that this is the last season. Otherwise we'd have a bunch of episodes where nothing much happens.......

That's essentially the talk I was hearing a while ago, that the writers said, "We need to wrap up now. We're not getting a fifth season out of this."

My recommendation, right now, is to keep the faith. Remember that the actors, as of the season premiere, did not know the outcome of the series. And season 4.2, because of the writers' strike, is probably not coming until 2009.

I would suggest that they're setting all their ducks in a row for what, hopefully, will be a mind-blowing conclusion.

Take, for instance, the face-off between Starbuck and a hybrid set to occur in the next episode. Maybe all of this hyperdrama seems to be wrecking or subverting the power of the one remaining unknown Cylon in the plot arc, but that seems to be the point. They can't beat that one over and over again, so they're trying to sublimate it thematically. We're not getting the answer in this bloc of episodes, as I understand it, so it should become a spectral influence on the plot instead of a nail to beat over and over again.

Meantime, I'll throw out a random prediction: the reason Cavil is so frightened of the Final Five is that he recognizes the possibility that he is wrong, and that if the Cylons ever discover these last, the Number One units—now, especially in their attempted destruction of their fellow Cylons—will be known as detriments to the overall plan, which is to make Cylons human, to become just like their Creators. The Seven known Cylons are expected to follow their programming, else the intended outcome—the overall strategy—is jeopardized.

So Cavil is the Sheriff of Nottingham, and the final cylon is Richard the Lion Hearted? Then, who's Robin Hood?

Tonight's episode wasn't bad. Finally some progress. So the final five are from earth? Didn't see that coming. And again with this "you are the harbinger of death............"

I wonder how Adama will react when a basestar trys to join the fleet?

    (Insert title here)

To be honest, I haven't an answer on the Robin Hood question. I'll give it some thought and see what I can come up with. Although I do think it will be a tremendous cop-out if we never find out who the last Cylon is, and we're left with a field of suspects and the implication that it will never recognize itself. If all else fails, the Cylons need one absolutely ignorant agent among humanity who never activates and can never be detected by humans. As I recall, Baltar's system, while it caught Boomer, appears to have missed at least three people: Tigh, Tyrol, and whatever the hell her name is.

Meantime, though, don't feel bad if you didn't see it coming. If anyone has a transcript of the hybrid's babbling, by all means post it. But I don't think that line should be taken literally. Except for statistical and command information for the base stars, hybrids seem to talk nonsense, except for the implication that it isn't nonsense. Given the show's religious overtones, the hybrid seems something of a proper oracle. One might theorize that the babbling is the human side of the hybrid attempting to render some coherent notion of the Cylon experience. By that theory, one who guesses or knows the symbolism and context of that babbling should be able to interpret it. Indeed, if it represents an expression of conflict between the human and Cylon aspects ... I wonder what the hourly charge for psychotherapy would be?

But, anyway, I'm not sure the line about Earth should be taken literally. In fact, it could be a disappointing end if it turns out to be a straightforward, literal declaration. Every once in a while, characters in a large project like this turn out to be just too prophetic, or insightful, or accidentally right all of the time to be realistic.

Although I do think that, written properly, there could be a hell of a debate coming up between the hidden four. Sam's conduct on the base star suggested a context for future significance. Especially the look he gave at the line about Earth.

Interesting revelation of the day for me: Leoben's thing for Starbuck apparently occurs consistently throughout the Number Two model. This had not occurred to me, for some reason.

As for the episode's pace and drama. Significant improvement, but far below Season 1 and 2 standards. Too much bonding for Laura going on. should have just stuck to the visions.
