You are splitting hairs. Of course not all kids will be forced. But , if parents encourage their kids as opposed to forcing them, does it make any difference ? Does it need saying that children trust adults and will not understand what they are getting into. They will see the whole thing as a bit of fun and an opportunity to show off.But what they are being taught is that looking glamorous and posing is what life is all about; that bodies matter more than minds. THey are being robbed of their childhood.
I think kids should be spared the anxiety of having to worry about their physical appearance at such a young age. I imagine the psycological impact pagents have on their minds is damaging. Also, these type of things provoke child molesters. I hate seeing extremely young girls dressed up like prostitutes, and I have been seeing more as time goes on.
I assume most parents fall along the same spectrum, from the highly disinterested to the in-your-face ambitious. I presume kids fall along the presumably predictable resulting personality groups. Its interesting though, that the debate is dominated by all those who are NOT sending their kids to pageants
You can't compare playing dress-up with a serious competition where they have to worry about their appearance. Leave that till they're 17/18, then they can start worrying that they're fat/thin/too moon faced/too harsh/fuck knows what else.
Why the angry smiley? Women in beauty pageants are exactly that: stupid, vain, party-crazed, and slutty. The only reason they get attention is because of their bodies, which is always a recipe for disaster. Regardless, the poll has spoken: 18-3 is the result.
Most have dropped out of school and, thanks to almighty God's sympathy, have been blessed with good looks. With a lifestyle of incessant traveling, partying, and excessive care for one's self, it's difficult to make any other judgement on their behalf. Wouldn't you say so?
They are viewed as women with huge cerebral cortex's, buxom brain stems and fiery neurons, of course.
Umm no? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Have you any idea how competitive the field of beauty pageants is? Most of the women who are going for it have to be organised planners with excellent survival skills and the hide of a rhinoceros.
You're missing the painfully obvious: they're competing with their looks. In and of itself, such a pageantry is unprogressive, unintellectual, shallow, and short-lived. Most of the women who are in these pageants simply sit at their luxurious chairs, being cared for by an entire staff of people focusing on different aspects of their bodies. Oh, how could I forget about the only two words they know? "World peace". They're a joke to everybody, in case you haven't noticed. Of course, I'm fine with this, considering it's at their discretion whether they want to participate in such events or not. You start to annoy people like me when you drag your children who are still wet behind the ears into such competitions.
Uh, where do you live? There are entire industries based on the fact that people are susceptible to a socially defined concept of beauty.
Such industries are lost in the shuffle. Nowadays, there's one rigid, fixed perception of beauty, and such pageantries simply add fuel to its fire. For cosmedic and clothing industries, such pageantries are an invaluable tool for expanding their lucrative business. It's the susceptibleness of people when it comes to the topic of beauty that such pageantries, in close partnership with all-encompassing "beauty" companies, have exploited.
No they actually promote and sustain the social definitions. And people pay for the privilege of being associated with them. Like the mothers who hope their daughters and sons can gain confidence by being paraded in public. Or obtain strength from an experience of rejection when they don't match up to the ideal.
That's it, change the subject again. Most men view such woman as sex objects. Do you need to be told that ?
