In what language does "poli" mean "pretty"? I was unable to find such. The closest is poly- from latin meaning many...

    Any help would be appreciated...

I haven't found an answer, but for the record poly- is Greek, not Latin.

Please give an example of poli meaning "pretty." Where did you encounter that?

Babydoll said so, but I thought it was a lie, so I figured let's ask the language experts.

Barbiegirl14, 'poliastin' is the first part of her email.
She says that is means 'Pretty Astin'.
Well, to be fair her father said that to her, at least that's what she said.

polu (poly) kala means very good a common Greek response to "how are you ?" the Greek upsilon, a bit like French u, is norkally transliterated as y.

It is definitely Greek. From the verb putsaikaetelon. (to boil water in a metal vessel)
    Hence the phrase.
    Poliputsaikaetelon.

It could also be Hawaiian... At least by the sound of it...

By the way it is a strictly linguistic question...

A good attempt but I cannot give you full marks. The verb poliputsaikeleton
is correct if one wants to render the idea of putting an empty kettle on. If you wish to make coffee the verb must include nera ( water ). Hence you need to say: Poliphilineraputsaikaetelon, 2nd conjugation.

    Man, I am a genius!

    poli

    n.

    1. Bosom, breast; depression; (poetic) heart, arms. Cf. poli lima, poli wāwae. Ma ka poli iho nei, hoʻonanea (song), in the arms, relax. (PCP poli.)
    2. Instep. (Short for poli wāwae).
    3. Coconut husk attached to a fishing line. Cf. nuku.

So in a free translation poli Astin means : nice chested Astin!

Either your father is Greek or he wears a grass skirt.

    Thanks Sputnik.
What's it like being Barbies father?

It must be tough in the house, now that she's yesterday's doll.
Bratz is the new doll of choice.
Prettier, stupider, and more trashily dressed.
