Season four will be starting around April, in other words...forever. As if The Dark Knight wasn't a long enough wait as it is (for me)..

The spinoff has been confirmed too. Caprica will be a prequel to BSG and will start airing in the fall of this year.

So, Starbuck. Cylon or prophet? And Baltar, he's performing miracles now? Offering himself as a sacrifice in exchange for the boy only to have the sacrifice called off at the last moment a la Abraham/Isaac?

 

I still think that Adama is the final Cylon. I think that whatshisface was telling the truth when he wispered that to Starbuck. Sort of a truthsayer when pressures demand it. He couldn't otherwise tap into that information except upon circumstantial demands. Moments before death are about as good a reason for that information to surface.

Baltar is a "prophet" (or whatever passes for one on the show), as is Thrace.

The episode was ho-hum. Nice exploasions and battles at the beginning, tho.

I have a hard time believing the word of cylons. Sure, they'll wipe out 99% of the human race and chase the remaining 1% across all of space to complete the job, but lie? Never. That would be wrong.

When a Cylon says Starbuck will lead us to our doom, it makes me wonder if they're trying to prevent us from following her when we really should. When a Cylon about to be spaced claims Adama is a Cylon, I see it as a desperate attempt to sew desent among our ranks and perhaps prolong its "life".

Of course, it's also possible that they were telling the truth, at least some of the time. Perhaps to fuck with us. Or perhaps due to some Cylons having different agendas than the rest.

 

Prolong their lives no offence but they pretty much let every cylon free by killing them, don't forget they wake up in those bathtubs everytime they get shot in the head or be released onto the vacuum.

Then again I could find one or more ways to almost destroy the entire cylon population it's yust a scifi show.
Perhaps I'm a little pist that I mist it.

 

I know it's twisted, but it would fit nicely. Adama and Tigh are long and historic friends who've. Tigh's a toaster, so is Adama. It would make sense. Moreover, the Cylon Leoban (that was his name) really had no reason to lie. Yes, yes, he could have been seeding discent in the Colonial fleet, but I think that Leoban underwent a "change" (witness his obsession/dedication to her when in captivity on New Caprica) that made him see her for the prescient / soothsaying individual she is. She's an object of worship, "worthy" of his devotion. He was feeding her information in order to be a catalyst to her growth.

It's obvious that the other Cylons know nothing of the "final five". Why is that? Were they developed separately? By whom? It seems to me that the final five must have been built by humans, probably before the war.

Perhaps some expert in robotics built the human form Cylons before the war, an attempt to create a true AI. These scientists succeeded beyond their wildest dreams and their creations, having a much greater degree of free will than their more robotic brethren (the toasters) touched off the rebellion.

Then the human form Cylons became disgusted and ashamed of the killing their rebellion caused, and went deep undercover to live as humans to, perhaps, make amends.

The "toaster" cylons, not truly self aware, went off on their own and ultimately recreated the human form true AI cylons perhaps driven by the memory of the role their human form founding fathers played.

This would even explain the cylon attack ending once a final five cylon was identified. Perhaps all the other Cylons have, buried in their code, a command to obey the final five. A command dating back to the dawn of the Cylon rebellion. The "final five" may have reprogrammed the "toasters" to no longer obey humans, but to obey them.

 

I was just thinking about my theory RE: the final five. I think, if I'm correct, there will only be one version of each of them. Also, I'd bet that the musical summons they all experienced was a response to the oncoming overwhelming Cylon attack.

The fleet, and therefore the human race, was about to be wiped out. The "final five", in cover so deep they'd forgotten they were Cylons, detected the invasion and awakened to their true identities just so that they could do what Anders did, give the order to call off the devastating attack to preserve humanity.

The final five don't know it yet, but they're on humanities side and have been since they went undercover. Hell, they may have even foreseen the likelyhood of a Cylon victory and gone undercover just to prevent mankind's extinction.

 

I am just hoping the final cylon isn't: Galactica. (That would explain the music in the walls though and I don't remember anyone authoritatively saying that the 12 models were all human-forms.)

From a dramatic perspective, I would expect the fifth one to be a character greater than the other four, of which there aren't many: Baltar, Starbuck, Apollo, Adama and Roslin, really. The Hybrid from Razor also indicated that the final model is "hungering for redemption, that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering" (the redemption bit being vague and the suffering not necessarily its own, I have no idea what to do with that clue).

Apollo can be ruled out, imo, since he could, at most, be a half-cylon without making me throw things at the TV.

Baltar I would rule out as simply being too obvious. It wouldn't make for a very good story if he were the one because he's got too much that hints at it (precognition, projection, heightened intelligence, a history of betraying humanity (however unwittingly or without real alternatives)).

As for William Adama, Leoban did say "Adama is a cylon" to Starbuck (not clear whether he meant Lee or Bill), but he should have no way of knowing, and was probably lying. Otherwise, though Adama's family life is pretty well documented, and it seemed to me that Lee had some knowledge of his grandfather.

Kara Thrace is a strong contender. She had a mother, but the only source for that is her memories.

• She had prophetic visions as a child, drawing the mandala from the Temple of the 13th tribe,
• she learned to fly a cylon raider very quickly,
• she apparently dies and was resurrected
• since she was "at Earth" at the time, it makes sense she did not respond to the music that triggered the others and
• the Hybrid from Razor said she'd lead humanity to their doom if followed.

Roslin was in the vision of the Opera House, along with Athena and Caprica Six . . . both cylons. Roslin also has the projection ability of the cylons, albeit supposedly drug induced. She also has no family connections that I can think of. Even finding out that she had cancer there was no thought given to telling her family. (Moore also supposedly said that neither William Adama, nor Roslin are cylons, but that was in a podcast I have only heard third-hand.)

Then again, in the "Last Supper" picture there was a space left vacant and Moore said that that was the space for the final cylon...which suggests the final cylon is not in the picture. If true, it means the final cylon is an as yet unrevealed character or a more minor one. Possibly it's someone on Earth. Possibly it's some other hokey explanation, like its being the Cylon God or Athena, as the one cylon able to truly overcome her programming (maybe she only looks like the other Number 8s, but is, under the hood, very different).

 

Saw the episode, loved the explosions. got a bit boring after that.
