It's all doomed to failure because NASA got pissy about Tito and i'm the naive one Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! How pissy has NASA been about the rest of the space tourists? What about the fledging private space industry, they pissy about that too? Do you get along with your neighbours, co-workers etc or do you constantly argue\fight?
It was a real world example, one of the few real world examples we have to work with, about protectionism in space. Are they allowed free reign of the ISS? No. NASA got pissy about Tito and set the ground rules, so I guess yes, they are still pissy. NASA don't own space, so I don't quite understand your question. The point was about co-operation in off world colonies, where nations co-operate and share. I just pointed out that lofty ideal has not been realised with the ISS.
I didn't mean to imply colonies would based on nations here on earth. My point was that with various enterprises\nations learning to get along in space we'll probably do better at getting along here on earth. Europe, Russia and the US are all involved in the ISS and i haven't heard of it causing any wars nor of any actual physical fights on the ISS
Well of course, people seldom want to fight, but their governments command them to. The drives for exploring space won't change that.
