    Let's see...

The 360 is a new system; it plays the old Xbox games as well as the "new" games... And it's liked by a whole lot of people for the value the games contain.

Major gamers think about these things first. Because they decide that the best games, best graphics, is usually the best way to go sort of stuff. For example, if I was a big time gamer (which I am), I would think of what system I would like best. Your son/daughter is probably similar.... (the one that wanted the 360).

But do not be fooled, the Wii is an amazing consol. He/she should know this. I am infact jeleous owning both a ps3 and xbox360, of the Wii; as it is bringing out eventually everything that I love... Mario Kart; Tales of Symphonia II. ...These are just some of the things. Not to mention a great price.

Either way you look at it,
the Wii has inferior graphics to the 360 and Ps3 both.
The Wii does not feature as many consol specific games that both 360 and Ps3 do share.
The Wii does not play previous games of it's consol name (ex. Ps3 & 360 play ps2 and xbox games (and ps1).

But the 'pros' are good too. It's a one of a kind system with amazing games. I am jeleous of it because Nintendo is going to pop out with the amazing games once again, not too long from now if not already by now. As I mentionend above, Tales of Symphonia II. So you won't have to worry about any negitive games, I would say that there are more likeable games on this consol than many, if not all. In a word, it competes with the 360 and Ps3 just as easily as the Gamecube competed with the Ps2, if not better.

Also the wii-mote (wii remote) thing. Is supposed to be cool.
Basically it's a hands down amazing system; the cons and pros weigh themselvs out IMO.

    Hey Zak,

Yeah I was debating that route too. I am going to see what happens this week. I may end up going into the Gaming store around here and see if they can order me one in. I want to have one for March Break, that is when his Birthday is.

Btw: When are you getting your FREE one.......lucky B@$# lol

hmmmmmmmm I didn't think the new Xbox 360 played the old Xbox games too. We have tons of the old Xbox games.

It is my older son (11) who really wants the Xbox 360. My younger one plays with him on our current Xbox. I find alot of the games he is playing though are a little over his head. (also contain some content I am not cool with)

I thought the Wii would be perfect for a 7 yr old. Like you said they have alot of games geared to his age too. I like all those Super Mario Brothers and the sports games they have for it.

It is a big dilema actually........

The younger one wants the Wii
My older one wants the Xbox 360
and the Oldest one (my b/f lol) wants PS3 so not only can he play games but watch Blue Ray DVD's

Personally I could care less, it doesn't matter to me.
I won't be using any of it hardly at all. Although I think
I would use the Wii more then any of them.

Yeah. I can't make any advice, except to butt in.

For example. Here is an example of butting in:

The 360 likly would please your boyfriend. More than the Wii. But, then again the Wii is also an amazing system. As it is such a tough decision with so many people considering that they want different systems; for example,, the 360 is prefered over the Wii with the older. Therefore, he wants the 360. lol... The younger one wants the Wii. Appease the younger ones IMO at all costs, but this is not doing anything but further butting in. I perhaps would suggest debating this over with everyone (not really). But, Younger one wants Wii, older one wants 360, oldest one, wants Ps3.... 360 has a lot of games. You have the older games. I don't see how this would matter- at all.

    Honestly.
But, the Ps3 is a power house, the price has been lowered signifigantly...
Does this make it worth consideration.
It also has a lot of amazing features; it's why I'd prefer a Ps3 over any of them (personally), because I also like the ps2 etc etc etc etc etc...

But I don't know what to say. Except that the Wii is infact an amazing choice. The oldest would enjoy some of it's games for certain. As far as the top quality more mature games go, I am sure there are some for the Wii. It may not be as extreme as with the 360 or Ps3, but no doubt near enough. If not exemplifying his tastes. Anyone loves mario Kart. And anyone loves rpgs (not).

But they do enjoy many of the other amazing games that surely are only going to be for the nintendo. Many exclusive nintendo titles IMO.

Ps3 appears out of the debate.
    360 is in the debate.
    Wii is a good choice.

There. I am done butting in.

    Thanks for butting in!! LOL

Yeah the prices have come down alot. The PS3 and Xbox360 are both 399.00 now. The Wii is 269.00.

Considering it is my youngest ones birthday. (in my house they call him the "golden boy") lolol
I think "IF" I can actually find one, I am going with the Wii.

Maybe the PS3 will be my Christmas present to both my older one and my b/f.
It will probably be even cheaper by then. Then all will be happy!!

Yeah it does, it plays Gamecube games (can plug in up to 4 GC controllers as well), not to mention you can download old favorites as well from numerous older consoles.

Everyone needs to play No More Heroes -- it's the definition of hardcore gamer.

Ok this might be a dumb question but here goes.

We don't have Gamecube. But I know alot of ppl that don't want theirs.
So if you play a gamecube game on the wii, do you have to use gamecube controllers or will the wii controllers work?

Gotta use the GC controllers. So if you have people that don't want their GC, just grab their controllers and plug em into your Wii so you don't have a bigger, 2nd console taking up more room.

My parents got me the last Wii in the area for Christmas, well they had to drive 1.5 hrs to get it.

I love the thing, but have over played it sometimes and threw out my shoulder boxing a couple times.

The things you have to buy for the wii add up quick.

    wiimote = $40
    nunchuck = $20

a single charging station does 2 wiimotes and are $30

most of the other toys are $20 like the shotgun blaster rifle and crossbow, but all you need are wiimotes and nunchucks (maybe a classic controller if you get hooked to the virtual console)

most of the wii titles are specifically designed as party games, thus are no fun to just stay home alone and play, but they do have some that are fine by yourself. i'm waiting for the new star wars game to come out in a month or two so that i can beat down some little kids and hear them bawww over the fact that i used to fence and swordfight irl back when i was in jr high / high school.

i'd say that my favorite things about the wii are the virtual console where you can pay a little $$ to dl games from the nes/snes/n64/neogeo/sega/saturn/etc. so getting to play a copy of games like tecmo bowl that still work was well worth the $5 to download it, and since i never got to own a n64 or most of the other systems you can dl from i really love it

also i love the photo editor, and when i get a job teaching this fall i plan on using that photo tool to make my own bootleg version of power point, thus justifying my having my wii in my classroom along with a wall projector

i think you might be able to use the classic controller as well, and you have to watch out because not all gamecube games are compatable with the wii...

the 360 is a piece of shit

The things break more often than not, and there are tons of games that are NOT backwards compatable.

Spend anytime around a 360 and you get to learn what this means...

and for those of you that have never encountered a 360, that means that you're fucked and it is time to send your paperweight back to microsoft so they can fix it for free and get it back to you in a few weeks/months

I own a 360 and have never had problems with it. I love xbox live and the list of games and exclusive titles that come with the 360. If I ever do happen to get the 3 rings of death its okay because microsoft will just replace my xbox. Its a good system, aty least from my experience.

all I know is the Original Xbox we have had has been great. But I have heard the new XBox 360 is crap by more than one person. I think at least they should have made it so you could play the old Xbox games on it.

Do any of these people own a 360? I only know of one person out of my frineds that has had any problems with his, and thats because his dumb ass knocked it over when he was drunk.

As Microsoft continues to release the 360 the quality will keep going up.

360 is OUT. No way am I rewarding a company that pays game developers to code only for the 360.

I was worried back when M$ got into games in the late 90s. Sheeeet... there went the neighbourhood. Marketing wonderland. All bullshit.
