I hate that 2 ended in a cliff hanger. Dammit LucasArts---get off your asses.

(KOTOR = Knights of the Old Republic. Best game for XBOX ever. Sorry Halo, you're just not as cool)

    KOTOR2 ended on a cliffhanger?

The LAST thing they want to do is rush KOTOR3. KOTOR2 was about 1/2 the game it should have been because they rushed it out for the "holidays" or whatever the fuck it is they rush things out for. There were entire planets and character plotlines left out.

The lack of a HK homeworld was one of the biggest video game letdowns ever. Worse than Daikatana in its entireity.

let it sit...don't rush it. Kotor 2 was rushed and the graphics are a 6/10 at most.

This was posted yesterday on ign.com. It talks about EA's plans for 08 and 09. Among other thing, KOTOR is announced.

KOTOR 2 was, imo better from a game play perspective (more options, feats, combat and force-user styles, new "elite" classes to follow after a few levels of the old consular/guardian/sentinel levels, a much more interesting and useful crafting and weapon/armor upgrading system), but:

    (1) the overarching story was slightly less interesting;
    (2) certain parts of the storyline (like helping Czerka or the Ithorians on Citadel Station) were a bit dull at times; and
    (3) the ending was a big letdown. They rushed it to get it to market, cut out a few very interesting, but incompelete storylines (hints of which are still left in the game) and it just made the climax less involving.

The information it suggests about Revan and his true goals as dark Lord were great though, and the philsophical side of the Sith teachings, especially as Kreia suggests Revan interpreted them was interesting. Star Wars has a tendency to deal in black and white absolutes, and this suggested a lot more of a sophisticated and nuanced view of the Sith and their goals (or at least of some of them).

Overall, the better gameplay saves it to some extent, as does all the little nuggests about Revan, but it's really easy to see all the potential that was wasted.

The games industry is a cut throat one, a number of good companies bit the dust for a number of reasons ranging from just people moving on to different projects right through to being liquidated from not being able to fullfill contracts.

    R.I.P.:
    Bullfrog
    Muckyfoot
    Elixir

(Btw two of the mention companies died while under the Eidos banner, and Bullfrog's assets were seemingly consumed by the might of Electronic Arts)

Basically games companies have only a few ways to go now a days if they if they want the support and financial backing, they have to usually partner up with various publishers or other such companies (Sega and Atari have seemingly downgraded to Games production rather than console/computers, you then have Eidos, EA and of course Microsoft which last year bought Lionhead Studio's who will be soon releasing Fable 2.)

Admittedly I've been interested in the movements of such programmers because of Bullfrog, most companies nowadays have at least one ex-Bullfrog employee involved. (Much respect to those Ex-Employee's that pretty much rocked my world back in the day)

I'm sure that the move to working with Microsoft was on the basis that they would have far more finances to put into the graphics and technology to create the gameplay than just dealing with Lucas Arts, as well as perhaps allow them to try new and different things that Lucas Arts perhaps wouldn't of allowed.

Games these days are just hype and graphics covering up what are basically warmed over ten or even twenty year old games....and they wonder why people download them instead of paying.

I wouldn't even say KOTOR 2 had an ending. More like the game just stops.
