So you worry more about what America is doing than what your own country is doing to itself?

You have to realize Berkeley does not speak for all of CA. There are a lot of sane people here. Berkeley is like SanFran, L.A., and other liberal cesspools. The creepy freaks have taken over much of those areas.

Patriotic anit-terrorist Americans want the war finished. The liberal cut and run crowd want us to surrender/quit. They have NEVER met a fight they didn't run from.

I'm still waiting. Would you care to answer these questions? Which is the thread topic?

Do you think the Marines should shut down the station since the Council has voted on it? Is it okay for the Marines to ignore what the US citizens want? Should Berkeley be allowed to exercise their second Amendment rights to make sure the government listens to them?

So lets not talk about all CA. Do you think the Marines should shut down the recruiting center after the Council has voted against it?

No. Freedom of speech goes both ways. If people don't like what they hear they can just protest, as they have. But no one should be moved just because of their views about anything. That's not freedom, that's communism.

Does the Berkeley Council have a right to vote to keep or not keep the recruiting station?

Can they stop the lease, for instance?

They have no right to stop the lease or vote out a recruiting station they don't want in their council?

No. The council is a bunch of lunatic liberals. These are the same people who will be SCREAMING for help any time anything happens to them. What if we decide not to help them anymore?

If someone wants to work in a legitimate business than they should be allowed to do their jobs as long as they comply with all laws and regulations where they are working. Just because one person doen't like the Marines doesn't mean that they must leave unless they have done something wrong.

    The mayor of Berkeley disagrees:
They also disagree about the sexual discrimination in the Marines "don't ask don;t tell policy"

But it would be because it seems that one question leads directly into the other or doesn't it to you? Someone that is so involved with another country and doesn't give a damn about there own should be scrutinized .

No, it doesn't. And I'm not going to argue about it and derail the content of this thread. Start your own thread about this matter if you want.

I think you meant city instead of council. If that's the case, the answer is no. Why should they be able to? The Marines haven't done anything illegal (please don't respond with something easy like "the invasion of iraq wasn't illegal?", etc.). They have as much to right to be there as you and I. The Council resolution is essentially meaningless.

However, the response to the resolution sounds absolutely completely terrible:

DeMint said he would draft legislation to strip the city of federal money, including funds destined for UC Berkeley, for school lunches in the Berkeley Unified School District and public safety.

He's responding to something meaningless with something that could really hurt the people of Berkeley, essentially punishing the city for exercising their free speech. It's disgusting.
