Arriving in Sydney in the middle of january, you'd either expect torrential thunderstorms or dry, aching heat, right ? You'd expect temperatures to be in the high twenties, even in the middle of a thunderstorm, right ? but no, I step out, and it feels like winter. or Autumn. Like wtf ? Temperature of 19 degrees Celsius (It should be 28 at least) .. And I've been noticing this trend of hot days in the middle of winter, and now cold days in summer. People, don't you see ?.
I guess that it must be 'global warming' that explained the weather we had last year. In central Texas we had a significant amount of snow on both MLK day, and again on Easter. Then again I guess it was 'global warming' that caused the little ice age, and it must have been 'global warming' that caused the cooling period during the 20th century. There has definitely been an increase in unpredictable weather in sydney since 2000, Never before have there been such cold days in summer, or hot days in winter. I understand that locations near the sea can have slightly more volatile weather, but that usually occurs in the spring/autumn months.
The clock is ticking. No one on earth can predict when, how, and if the whole system will turn to total shit. Death-storms, floods, quakes, and our system smashed. The north will be capped with hundreds feet of ice (nuclear winter) and the south will be a inferno of death. A true nightmare, one of many possibilities that will most certainly occur if there is not some miraculous change quickly in our way of living. It might already be too late. We are going to need our full resources cooperating, we will have to transcend our differences in record speed, and our technology has to change fast!!! It would be nice if that happened. But it doesn't look like it at the moment. If we start to slaughter each other when resources get rough, then it will attract the final cries of humanities death karma. Resources are going to get tighter and tighter.
I thought everyone believed in global warming? :shrug: I also thought it was the reason and the duration of it that people were conflicted about??

I distinctly remember getting very sun burnt whilst fishing in early July 1989 and the temperature was about 35°. I also remember freezing my arse off in some of the summer storms during the 80's as well. However i agree it does seem to occur more often now. The biggest change i've noticed is the increased humidity and cloud cover.
It snowed in Malibu last year and the same with tornados and now even one yesterday, ripping the roof off a hangar out at Pt. Mugu. It's gotta be somethin'! - N
what kind strikes me as odd is. Could it really be a coincidence that as soon as humans start hitting heavy industry globally the earth begins to get hotter at an incredible rate?

Yes, the Earth is heating up as it has time and time again. The Earth is still coming out of the last ice age. When we look at the temperature variation over Earth's history we see that it varies from a global average of 12°C to 22°C, and average of 17°C. Currently the average global temperature is around 14°C to 15°C, below the historical average. Over and over again the Earth warms up to 22°C and then some event like an asteroid or volcanic eruption cools it off. Climate warming is the norm, not the exception. Man is not THE cause but a small contributor to a natural cycle. Man's energy would be better spent learning to adapt to a warmer planet because it is inevitable.
One 30 year point on a graph billions of years long does not show any long term trends. Toss your 1000 year chart and look at the all the data instead of a short subset...

I've realized that using such examples of literary devices is just far beyond that of the average person on here. I guess we just have to feel sorry for those who drag down the quality of discussion because they aren't capable of rising above their 8th grade reading level, but there is really nothing that we can do other than to drop our quality down to their level.
