Aren't you the one who was trying to block a phone last week ?

Are you involved in stalking someone?

Yes. The police, CIA, FBI and many others have devices than can locate within 5 feet where the call is being made from.

    Yes.
    Cell tower triangulation.
It is still only accurate within a few hundred feet, but it is getting better.

Also, many cell phones come with GPS devices built in.

    Why?

If this IS for your kid, you can get a phone with that functionality built in.

That's an incorrect statement - none of them are that precise. And incidentally, there are still a lot of cell phones around that don't even have the E911 feature and you can disable the feature on many that do. And besides that, the ones that use GPS tracking can also disable the software.

That's what you think. I guess your not up on the latest spying techinques that have been developed in the past 2 years which can give those agencies the precise location of cellphone calls.

Then please provide us with links that substantiate your claim. And since you seem to think it works on ANY cell phone, be certain to include that in your proof.

Now THAT wasn't very bright - just linking to their home pages!!! Either do better than that or admit you were wrong in the first place.

Why would you want to track someone's cell phone? Even if it is your kid's, tracking their phone is just a bit overbearing don't you think?

Not an expert on it, but telephone companies can easily pinpoint where the calls are made from, and law enforcement agencies can subpoena such records. I am not even sure the phone needs to have GPS ability anymore to be able to be tracked.

    Thanks SAM!

Mobile phone tracking technology relies on the use of triangulation - taking the signal strengths registered from your mobile phone at a minimum of three nearby GSM receiver masts. As the mobile phone companies know the position of each mast, and can tell the signal strength of your phone at each of these nearby masts, they can use this to calcuate your position to a certain degree of accuracy (within about 50 to 100 meters).
    Approximative error range:

10 meters (max.) For europe cellular and United Europe.
25 meters (max.) For North America Territory.
50 meters (max.) For the rest of the World.

And those numbers are MUCH different from the 5 feet you originally claimed. Get it now??? Compare 50 meters with 5 feet if you don't get it yet.

Even a phone that is turned off has a signal. The cell phone provider can locate it.
