XP Virus problem

As mentioned time and time again, make sure you install spywareblaster. It won't remove viruses, however it will lessen the chances of them being able to infect your system. It doesn't run in the memory or anything like that, it just locks out certain regkey's and ActiveX components from being installed and certain websites from being accessible.

By the way, a friend of mine got a pretty vicious virus and could only function in safe mode, so I recommended trying some of these online virus scanners.

They all, each and every one of them, can suck my balls.

They either don't work. Take forever. Or, in the case of Kaspersky, will only remove the viruses if you buy their software.

Fuck them all.
They're nothing but a waste of time.

After spending a few hours trying to get them to do something for her, we gave up and now are just going to back up her crucial data and give her a clean install.

Fuck you, online virus scanners. Fuck you all. Fuck anybody who recommends them, also.

Sometimes the PC is already slow because of inadequate SDRAM, not been defragmented or other internal problems. That being said this virus removal/malware removel site is great. Although it wiil take time to go through every file and nook and cranny it will do a superior job. I've used it allot.

Tried it. Doesn't work.
It probably worked for you because you really didn't have anything wrong with your computer to begin with.
They all work great as long as they don't have to do anything.

You know. Actually. The trendmicro one wouldn't work for her period. For some reason it simply wouldn't function.

The Kaspersky wants you to buy their software.

Bitdefender seemed to be working, but then didn't actually get rid of any viruses. It kept saying 'disinfection failed' or something similar.

We'd already given up before trying Panda.

To me, it's just easier and more secure to reinstall.

By the way, she has over a hundred viruses. She got a trojan dropper which just loaded her down hardcore. Perhaps that's part of the reason they wouldn't work for her.

I don't know.

All I know is that none of them worked.
Frustrating.

 

The Trend Micro wants you to install an active x control, temporary. Did you get that far in the installation process with hers? You have to look at the top and see the yellow bar that you have to click on to install it. It is a temporary install. Also are all of the virus protection turned off as well as ad aware?
