    these two statements are contradictory.

an OEM OS ships with a pre built PC.

    nice cut/ paste though.

I put it together on a store-website yes, one that allows you to configure your pc to your wishes. That is not a new thing, right?

anyway i'm confident this build is a good one

Don't buy the OS, its a big waste. If you're really that big on not pirating software, get linux (ubuntu distro). It has some software that lets you emulate just about every piece of windows/mac/whatever software, including games, in linux.

What's your budget and where are you located? Is there an online retailer available to you that I can use to put something together?

    small correction...

it's been several years since anyone even made a claim they made systems that run with Falcon Northwest's stuff...

Alienware is nice stuff as these things go... they make some smoking systems... though they've had some issues reported since Dell bought the company...

but the 'cream of the crop' "best" title still goes to Falcon Northwest... the vbulletin is putting the smack down on me posting a link so...

    no...

the selling of OEM windows OS is a very common practice across the web...

    CYF man...

OP here is a parts list from a system i just just picked out for a person on another forum... maybe this will help... the majority of these parts were purchased from newegg.com and tigerdirect.com ... tigerdirect.com has been 'PC builder central' for longer than any site really...

    hope that helps...

that's a smoking system... he didn't go with Corsair Dominator RAM as i suggested for financial considerations...

that motherboard is the stuff of dreams... built in RAID... built in hardware firewall on the twin gigabit ethernet ports... a legacy IDE port... just smoking... smoking cross ups...

that EVGA video card is a monster... wow that thing performs...

the PS and the case are aimed at cooling things down...

that's a pretty nice sink for the CPU too...

of course, i recommended against Vista strongly, but he is running the 64-bit OS and liking it...

I suggest buying an OEM system from Dell then replacing the internal PSU with something higher, also get a better videocard. Thus ends your confusing dillema, it'll be easier anyway.

That system is nearly identical to mine, but if cost isn't a factor, I'd go with raptors in RAID 0, a different HSF, and the 8800GTX.

And Vistas perfectly fine as long as you have the hardware to support which this hypothetical system would.

EDIT: And if you're going to spend 200 bucks on a case, get a Lian Li.

If you're willing to spend the time and money, I would just build your own. It'll undoubtedly turn out better than Dell's system.

    it's pirated.
OEM only ships with prebuilt PCs.

    edit:
OEM operating systems can only be sold by computer manufacturers.
they are included as the operating system on the machines they sell.
OEM OS's cannot be legally sold by computer parts makers, in other words if you sell printers, modems, video cards, etc, and do not sell assembled PCs, then you cannot sell OEM OS's.

    Someone shrink this!

Anyways tell me you can build a PC for this with the OS, you're full of shit! Just buy it and replace the PSU + videocard, you then have a gaming system beotch!

Darkie...I work on Dell's all day long...they are shit. The oem motherboards can not be tuned at all...no timing controls, no voltage controls, no nothing.

It's like he asked for advise on a fast car that can be used for street racing, and you told him to go to the dealer and by a stock Saturn....when he needs a car with a racing engine.

Memory sucks, you want at least 2 gb and definitely at a higher clock speed. I'd also prefer a faster processor. Raptors in RAID 0 would be a definite plus, but not necessary.Does the OEM mobo even have RAID capability for future HD upgrades? A gaming system, sure, but a poor man's gaming system.

Well he didn't mention overclocking, so tuning the motherboard shouldn't be an issue.

Like I suggested , look at the components and just build his system with

what they have installed in theirs. He can do it for about half of their price.

I looked at your link and found them very similar to Alienwares stuff. The

only thing is that they don't list who their manufacturers are for everything

they are installing. Look at Alienwares top o'the line model PC and then tell

me that your Falcon is better, I'd think not. But then again it is my opinion

as to what the specs are.

You know, after reading all of this I've decided building it is simply too difficult. Therefore, anyone know some good sites? Alienware is ok but their deals are ****, Dell......HAHAHA!

Anyway, anyone have any feedback on CyberPower?
