It was pure luck. Thanks for your congrats. Eureka means "behold I can see a male member in my bath ", nothing to do with quote functions

Atheism is NOT a belief, it is a lack of a belief.

Atheism is the certain knowledge that there is no compelling evidence of a god(s) whatsoever.

Atheism entails the absence of belief in the existence of God or other deities. Absence of belief:*"Atheists are people who do not believe in a god or gods (or other immaterial beings), or who believe that these concepts are not meaningful. ...
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism

    Greek "a-theos": without-god.
    www.reasoned.org/glossary.htm

The lack of belief in a god and/or the belief that there is no god. The position held by a person or persons that 'lack belief' in god(s) and/or deny that god(s) exist.
    www.carm.org/atheism/terms.htm

This word comes from two Greek words, a the negator, and theos, God. www.godweb.org/dictionary/dic_a-b.htm

a (“without”) the (“deity”, or “god”). Atheism is a lack of belief in a god or gods.
    www.strongatheism.net/intro/lexicon/

Now, there are enough "definitions" of atheism out there too that insist that atheism is a "belief" in the non-existence of god (?) and a "denial" of the existence of god. You know who insists on those definitions? Theists, that's who. The seek to apply to us (because they don't know any better?) the same attributes that we criticise them for. Faith, belief, denial... these are all supernatural, biblical, theistic words. Get it?

    Wiki wakki don't cut it.
Look it the f**k up! In a REAL dictionary, preferably print as they tend to be more thorough.

Yeah, I don't know what happened. It shocked the hell out of me too. Our sect was nearly finished with the temple too. It's real nice. marble and everything.

Not exactly. I however, did find Dog. He needed a bath, tho.

I'll be sure to keep ya posted if I here (or there) anything knew.

    That was a cheap shot.

My copy of Liddel and Scott's Greek - English Lexicon. published by Oxford in 1892 defines " atheos" ( theta trasliterated ) as

    1. Without gods 2. DENYING THE GODS

Denial counts as a belief in my book.

For your information, there were no PCs in 1892

    There wasn't? News to me.
Seriously tho, That sort of reference does count in my book

    , so to speak.

But why having no respect for Wiki Wakki counts as a cheap shot...

But then, we are not discussing the word 'atheos', are we. That sounds more like a predecessor type word. (My spell check doesn't recognize it. No biggie. Just an asnide) sic

When I first joined S-F I spent a huge amount of time typing on this very subject, but forget which thread... I'll see if I can find it.

Ok genius. What do you call a person who simply gives zero credence to the idea of god(s)?

Is everyone who simply gives no credence to the easter bunny denying the existence of the easter bunny? Or developing a "belief system" surrounding the disbelief in the easter bunny?

Why can't you take the word exactly as it's written and how actual atheists tell you it's meant? Without god.

How can you build a belief system around a lack of belief? Sounds pretty stupid to me. Listen to this and get it through your linguistically challenged skull:

Saying "I don't believe in a god" is not the same as saying "I believe there is no god". Get it?

    :deep breath: one more time...

Someone who says "God? Maybe, maybe not, don't care. Not an issue in my paradigm" is, as I have stated in this thread three or six times (including the First/Original post), an agnostic.
Here is the starter post, again:

You Know, not once have I suggested the Easter Bunny, or Santa Clause, any number of such fanciful entities.

Nor have I brought up a anthropomorphized god, benevolent or otherwise, except in response.

These have all been the suggested by the Atheists. Humm, funny that.
Now, if you want to discuss Mr.s Bunny and Clause as cultural archetypes, well that would be the subject of another thread, wouldn't it?

Besides, Are you suggesting that the Easter Bunny is god?
