Can a rubber foam be created and successfuly vulcanized to create tire filled with lots of small air bubbles ? I'm looking for a tire that never deflate, even if get punctured. -al
Heh! The problem with that idea - and the original suggestion/question is a very simple thing called heat. It builds up very rapidly, cannot escape fast enough - and almost just as quickly will destroy the tire. Why would you suppose all the tire engineers/designers stick with the current type anyway, eh?? And as if that's not enough, your idea would drive automotive engineers nuts because it would considerably increase the unsprung weight of the vehicle - which in turn leads to all sorts of problems. Things like performace, handling and ride comfort issues.
Tyre companies are probably better off making normal tyres opposed to foam ones etc. Because they run out, and that is what the company wants. Ever thought why Willy Wonka only made a few everlasting sweets?
No, I wouldn't be so certain of that. It's a VERY competitve business and all the major makers are constantly researching ways to gain an edge over each other. Now, if there was only ONE company you would have something - but that's FAR from the case.
