I tell you what...that's some attitude you got there for someone's who's asking for free technical support. We are sorry if we could not come up with you're "magic" answer...but simply, the symptoms that you have described defy the "laws" of normal computer operation.

You asked for a solution, and the "computer guys" gave you a solution...buy a USB flash drive. But noooooo....you want to still use your floppies....and be free to leave them in computers when your absent minded ass forgets them.

To answer your "OP"...there is no extra way to modify the boot sector of a floppy to inform the BIOS that it is not a bootable disk. There..you have your answer.

Search for "Wal-Mart" wherever you live. They have chinese slaves, so they should be able to sell it for cheap...

I never said they aren't. Why are you saying that? They probably are, given they are worth only a few cents...

When you program the computer to do something, it DOES! LOL!!!

Forget it! You will have to change the code if you want to change the computer's behaviour. And that's probably what the tech guys meant when they said it was way too much of a hassle!

    ROFLMAO!!! :roflmao:
Are you sure you have a problem aside from a psychological one!?

I think I recall that from the dim and distant past, sometimes you get a CRC error, but it takes a long time. Either way the floppy was doomed, it's not the PC killing it.

Buy a 4GB flash drive. They're a mere piffling twenty pounds.

    And a new computer.

You are creating a problem where there is none. I suggested that. myself.

That isnt the answer he was looking for. When someone tells you they are having a problem with a specific windows operating system, do you tell them to just install linux? He is perturbed because you arent addressing the problem, instead you are looking for the quick "no thought" fix....which he already said was out of the question.

    His original question was this:

The simple answer is no. It wasn't a "no thought" fix...I spent the hour and half bus ride home from work yesterday thinking about his problem...trying to come up a solution. I got a little perturbed myself that he was copping an attitude with those who were taking time out of their lifes to help him. It's just rude.
