If no one feared for his life, it would be impossible to raise armies and cause mass destruction. If I don't fear getting shot by Hitler's SS, then why would I agree to shoot people in his army?

I dunno. Ask Christians. They follow a diety out of fear of getting sent to hell for eternity. They should be familiar with submission by fear.

Well, I guess you could pay people to be in your army. But, those armies would generally flee at the first hint of combat unless they were afraid you would shoot them for cowardice.

The tragedy of the human race is stupidity...and this forum provides ample evidence of this.

Let's see how debates work in this den of dunces.

    Idiot 1 'I'm right."

    Idiot 2 "No, I'm right'

    Idiot 1 "Wrong"

Idiot 2 "*clever remark* Right again'

    Idiot 1 "Prove me wrong."

Idiot 2 "Why can't you prove your right?"

If people are spoiled and bored enough, they kill for fun.

I suppose that if enough people are spoiled and bored enough, it would be possible to raise armies and cause mass destruction.

It appears it is the natural factors of economical scarcity that prevent this, not moral considerations.

Yes, you can kill for fun. But will you charge a machine gun nest for fun? Or, do you need the fear of being shot for cowardice to get you motivated?

My question to you is why is it that so many people are SO incredibly dense when it comes to understanding human nature?!?!?!?!? Are you just some kid of 15 that hasn't interacted with people very much???

Fear has NOTHING to do with it - the single thing that drives war is simple human greed!

whats greater fear of getting shot for cowardice or fear of getting shot running at a machine gun nest?

Fear of getting shot for cowardice, because at least you have a fighting chance with a machine gun nest. If you run for cowardice, everyone will want to shoot you.

Some of the crap you come up with makes me think that you need a sharp blow to your head.

Perhaps but one more may knock something back into shape.

I'm not sure I see the logic in that. If no one feared for their lives they would be even more willing to engage in violent acts (including war).

Young people, who are less afraid of losing their lives and more likely to believe in their own invincibility are also easier to recruit than older people and are much more likely to be involved in violence.
