Can you explain that a little more thoroughly?

Are you saying that we can check the DNA from some European and find out that his ancestors in Africa were black-skinned? And had thick lips, wide, flat nostrils and heavy brow ridges?

Or did those same "europeans" evolve in Africa, complete with white skins, etc, then migrate to other places? We can tell all of that from a DNA sample?

of course, but you wouldn't be able to understand it anyway.

Well, sure. But there might be other people who are very interested, and aren't willing to ask for fear of being thought of as stupid.

So, ...please explain how scientists know that the "races" didn't split in Africa, then migrate out to the various regions as "white", "yellow", "brown", etc. You say that DNA studies prove it, so does DNA analysis show the exact timing of all of the racial differences?

I'm sure those people who can understand it also understand the concept of pubmed.

You do know that people can trace genetic diversity by examining its current location and work back to where it roughly came from.

There was this TV program some time ago where they traced the ancestors of a 'black' person (he was living in the UK). They ended up tracing his ancestors to a distinct area.

Ironically, it was all bullshit from a grand perspective. The ancestry was only valid for a specific gene. Most of his genes were just European versions, or other ones. That's because genes travel in mysterious ways.

Doesn't mean though you cannot conclude that white people didn't arise in Africa. Because they didn't. There is nothing in the genetic material of the average European that he originated as a white person in Africa. In fact, most diversity is in Africa. And the diminishing diversity can be tracked by examining population outside africa. They lack diversity because they never were in Africa to interbreed with the african population.

You might claim that people back then were completely segregated or it happened so rarely.

We know that complete segregation doesn't work with people. They will fuck whatever has a pussy. Even sheep.

It happened rarely? No, that would show up. Ironically any person at a given time has 80% chance to become an ancestor for the future human lineage. The rare event has a large chance of becoming incorporated in the genes.

What we do see is genetic proof for the gradual mixing of population, that is mixing is continuous. And in the old days this meant it was a very much localised event. People didn't have airplanes to travel easily from timboektoe to London. The bred with people next doors.

Together with the hindrance of cultural differences this created a gradient of human diversity.

Of course, this simplified version is completely unscientific. But then again, you wouldn't understand otherwise.

    spurious,

You are making the classic mistake of identifying Africa with black people when they are not the same thing.

Hence you say, "most diversity is in Africa", instead of "most diversity is in black people".

Nearly all of modern human evolution happened in Africa. Very little - if any - has occurred in the last 100,000 years since humans have migrated away.

Africa as the 'black continent' is a cultural creation of the last few thousand years.

alright. Most diversity is in black people in africa. That is; sub-Saharan Africa.

    Great.

Now imagine all the rest of humanity living back in Africa hundreds of thousands of years ago but in much lower population densities.

    Genetic diversity is even greater.

That makes no sense. Please provide an explanation for your nonsense.

I am saying the reason pale skinned people left Africa has nothing to do with genetic variation in Africa or elsewhere.

Way too much emphasis is put on genes... genes are just recipes... they're not blueprints.

You cannot tell by looking at someones genes what skin color their ancestors had hundreds or millions of years ago.

You might as well be doing astrology.

If natural selection occurs, then race has to exist.

race could also exist if the world was created by god.

Pale skinned people evolved in Africa ? Are you being stupid for a reason ?

Can you prove that they didn't?

I've never seen anything proving or disproving that theory, and I don't think DNA proves it either.

So how would that work then ? Why oh why would pale people evolve in Africa, and then why would only the pale people migrate north ??? It's a fairytale my friend.

    Enmos,

Chimpanzees are humans closest primate ancestor and they have pale skin.

It's not about skin color 'evolving' to meet the local conditions. Human skin color was irrelevant until we started losing our hair and moved out of jungles into open savanna. Evolution then took over.

Dark skinned humans did not come under any pressure to migrate, light skinned humans did.

The fairy tale is your pathetic racism.

    We were never black.

We are black now.. well some of us :bugeye: Now who is the racist !?
And are you seriously suggesting that we evolved from chimpansees ? lol
We had a common ancestor and NOBODY knows what skin color it had.

In all probability, if our ancestors had pale skin under their fur, it was due to living in the forest. When forests became scarcer they had to go from one group of trees to another etc etc. Exposing themselves to more and more damaging UV radiation, this was probably what caused darker skin to evolve.

It is also true that reverse evolution doesn't take place nearly as often. You will have to ask Spurious to explain that one in detail.

    Enmos,

There is no connection between light levels and skin color.

Pale skin people were eventually forced out of Africa.

'Evolution' is our psychological defense mechanism at work.
