Actually i'm more pissed of when sales people don't smile and look miserable, I'm thinking in my head i'm giving you my money and you can't fucking smile and be nice. I have become less judgmental now, the money that you give doesn't even go to them,it goes to some fat cat way upstairs, i would be pissed too.

I don't mind a smile and a friendly word from my sales assistant for today if it's natural and unforced. It's the false, obsequious 'have a nice day' brand of commerce given to us by the American multi-nationals that nauseates me. The best way you can help me sir is by going away and leaving me the fuck alone. And yes, I would like to supersize that.
The employer syndicate has a deal with the dentist syndicate. When you smile you show your teeth. If they are not perfect you cannot do a good job. No promotion. Dentists give you a perfect smile after receiving a monetary reward. Part of the monetary exchange goes back into the pockets of the employers. Everybody is happy or smiling.
Sure, and guys who take steroids can lift more and built bigger muscles. It's one of those things that is necessary because other people do it. I work with people in a lot of different professional roles. It is a trend that began in the US in the 80s (or really took off then) and with the advent of branding uber allt and internal marketing ideas just increases every year. I think it is obvious that we should be allowed to let our facial expressions fit our moods. That seems fundamental. I cannot prove this. Nor can I prove that rape is wrong. I think a better question would be why is it OK to tell people they have to have different facial expressions regardless of their moods. We gotten used to a bad pattern. The ones pointing it out suddenly have the burden of proof. Nah.
Good point. Fake smiles and false positiveness have effects on other people. I am quite sure that the Enron debacle had a lot of false positiveness - enforced false positiveness - that got ever stronger before the collapse. BS goes out into the environment like an emotional fart.
