I think that's why most people in the computer field attempt to generate more interesting lifestyles. Perhaps they rock climb, skateboard/snowboard, power glide or bungee (Wages permitting of course). I guess it makes excellent chances for decent pictures to liven the most boring of desktops up and of course makes you the toast of the party.

If you want to learn how to do cars, you don't need to go as far as College try something like volunteering for stock-cars or something similar, you'd have the chance to learn how to put a car together (and bang the panelling out when the car gets knocked), maybe you could even race

Are happy because you made it today or because you know it is going to be like this for a long time?

Yes, but there are plenty of people who hate their jobs, and are not paid nearly as much as you. So count your blessings. My dad worked at US steel for thirty years and hated it the whole time. Now he's retired from there and drives a school bus, which he actually enjoys.

I'm lucky in that I like my job and make good money most days. On the down side, there's a lot of stress and I have no guaranteed salary. Oh, not to mention the fact that my son should be starting college next year and I still haven't paid off my student loans!

I'm busting my ass right now with three offices and working six days a week. I'm hoping to sock away some cash, pay off my debts, and put my kids thru school. Ultimately, I'd like one small office and work like two or three days a week.

PS It's funny that you work in a bank. I definitely wouldn't have guessed that.

You are merely frustrated with your political system where you are forced to work in a demeaning job instead of pursuing your happiness because the state has no intention to provide for equal education for all.

Of course you are in a way lucky that you earn more than a janitor, but that does not diminish of course your mental anguish at being stuck. Something people who point out you should be happy do not understand.

Obviously there are many people who have more 'serious' problems, and the same people who point out that cars kill more people than guns, will happily provide you with examples.

However, the core of your problem remains. The pursuit of happiness under your ideological regime is limited to certain pathways, which are constrained by economical parameters that limit the actions of citizens.

As opposed to the European system, where we're all deliriously performing our dream jobs.

Not really, but I don't have to work to put my wife through the educational system.

    It's for free.

I could quit my job and do something else, and have no effect on the academic freedom of the spouse.

I may have to actualy start doing some work now.
I just got offered a Vice President position.
I hope there is a raise involved.
At least work will be less dull now.
It actually looks like it might be a real challenge.
I'll be tearing down an old department and rebuilding it again from scratch with the guy who was one of the best bosses I ever had.
Plus it gives me more days off to take a welding class and other such things to get me on my way to my way out.

Right now I do server building and maintenance.
The new position, if I take it, will be building and managing the department that responds to server error alerts and contacts the responsible parties to fix it (right now, I am one of those responsible parties).
This position is similar to my last position with this company, but it got boring, so I went back to tech work.
Now they have offered me the promotion to come back.

I made 189,000 Euro this week by working 2 weeks some months ago.

The only problem is that I am forced to spend it over a period of three years.

And I thought "MWHUAHUAHUA" was a mispelling for marijuana. Now I feel foolish for reporting him to the DEA.

Money cannot buy peace of mind.

Money only leads to wanting more and buying more things that keeps you always in debt trying to make more money to get out of that debt.
